It will probably get better once the weather warms up. I'm a little scared of the beach too, but my hubby is a rescue swimmer so that's comforting.
Alexis- I think the navy may have some day cares but im not sure.

I haven't found much to do here either. Except hang with other Navy Wives and have play dates with our kids. But once it does warm up im hoping to spend more time at the beach; even though the ocean scares me. lol

I have not really found anything fun to do yet.  My girl friends are coming up from NY on may 5th and we are planning some fun nights of bar hopping and clubbing where ever i can google a place to go to.  We are going to go to dinner, VA beach, and possible Busch Gardens.  Other than that I haven't really been out exploring because my husband is deployed until may so i don't really have many friends around her to do anything with.  Its just me 98 % of the time sitting in my apartment.  I would like to find somewhere I could go hiking or something, but who knows? Do you know of anything interesting to do?

From the little time we had to see Norfolk the off base houses were all clustered together and jumped constantly every other street from slummy to super ritzy. The only other place we went to was Portsmouth and seemed more spaced out and laid back. I liked the houses there so much better, thus why we ended renting there haha.

My husbands a submariner too :)

Hello! Just got orders TODAY to Norfolk, VA. My husband is a submariner (missile technician)...and we'll be in Norfolk while his boat is in dry dock. Any information on where to live would be greatly appreciated! :) I'd love to meet some VA ladies!!!!
