Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of April (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have April ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in April, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Praying harder for all our kids! Us too for that matter! My guy doesn't leave until the 21st. and it's just now really hitting me that my kid will be no longer be a kid or living under my roof!
My mailman is our friend he delivered the form letter before he started his route this morning and waited till I put the correct address on sons envelope! It is such a small thing that feels huge just to his his handwriting in only the spaces provided. So relieved...I'm realizing he didn't call because when he got their he probably doesn't know my number....just programmed in the phone as mom. I made sure he's got it now along w prestamped, preaddressed envelopes ...hint hint, hint. I've already booked our flights, car and hotel! All great deals! Spirit roundtrip 116 each! That's amazing! Ship 11 Div 191 PIR 5/29
Good idea
soluthwest airlines does to do that me too. i will hold off as much as i can. can wait for my first phone call or letter. i think i will feel better knowing that she is doing good.
I was happy it was June 5th and not May 29, due to school as I'm a teacher... even though it means one more week...although I would have missed work if needed!!!! Anyways, I'm going to hold off on purchasing tickets because I'm nervous about the unexpected...as I'm reading on here the date can change without much notice due to different things...not passing tests, injured, or getting in trouble...I don't think that any of these will happen, but that's why they are called unexpected :) I don't want to be stuck with $1,000 in nonrefundable tickets...I'm in California so it is pretty far for me too...Thinking of just using Southwest as they are one of the only airlines that doesn't charge for a date change, even though I can save a ton of money with Spirit...

My daughter left April 8th maybe hers is also June 5th . i hope so, cause kids are in school till 5/29. when i get the PIR confirmed should i buy plane tickets right away or wait?/ I want to stay positive but we are flying from far away to get to Chicago.
Called the recruiter just to ask division and PIR date..Ant is division 197..PIR June 5th (So happy because it will be my Dad's 70th birthday!!)....He left one week ago...Recruiter was very helpful going on and on about PIR...I was laughing because I already knew most of the info he was telling me ;) thanks to NM...I was so excited to hear something about him...Weird because it's not like he talked to him LOL
Looks like there are a few leaving today... Good luck to all you ladies....
Hold on and stay STRONG, better things are coming :)
My son left on the 6th I have not gotten anything in the mail yet. I did go and talk to the recruiter and was told that Josh's PIR is 5/29. Hope I get something soon. Josh is in division 193.
