Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of April (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have April ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in April, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

I got my 20 second call last night. I tracked his flight so I thought the call would come earlier than 1am, but it didnt. I tried to read his tone but the call was too short. I'm having a big pity party for myself today :) All your comments help. I appreciate this website.

Even though we were able to see our SR off at the airport, and talked to him via cell phone when he landed... I still couldn't sleep until I got that 20 sec phone call at 0100. He sounded rushed, maybe a little stressed, but I full expected that. It was still good to know he was there and underway to becoming a sailor. I have been less emotional today than I expected. Prayers for you you all as we wait for "the box" and an address.

I have left info on "A" School on many of your My Pages, so check your My Page.

If I didn't and you need more info on your future Sailor's or SR's  rating (job/specialty) leave a comment on my My Page with the contracted rating and I will give you info on the rating and groups to join.

its good to know we are all in this together.  This website has been a Godsend!  I am done crying too!  took me a few days, but I know this is what she wants and I have to be strong for her and we have to be strong for eachother!  thank you all who have been there to encourage me and to keep my thoughts straight.  My mind would have been on a constant replay of sadness instead of positive things to come if I didn't have the knowledge and feedback from all of you who have been there too!  God Bless you all, many thanks!

Dear families of SR that just left, it's only been two weeks to this day that my SR left as well. Even though it has seems like the next weeks will drag on by, it will get easier. For me, after I quit crying daily (this took until the Saturday after he left), his box came, then his letter with his PIR date, then I started planning and booking, then my countdown (last Friday was 1:8), then he called this past Saturday. Once you look forward to better things to come instead of all the missing you are doing now, it makes things tons better. At least this has for me, and this website too. Sending many prayers and hugs to all across the country. God bless us, our SR, and the many souls in our military. Stay strong!!

Beachgirl13 lucky you that you get to see him sworn in and get to see his flight off.  We dropped Joey off yesterday to the recruiters office and me and my mom got to take him out to dinner before dropping him off at the hotel.  I think I held myself together pretty good considering.  Now I assume he is on his way to be processed and officially sworn in before he heads to the airport. I think his flight leaves around 3-4 so its going to be along day of praying, tears and waiting for the call that he got there safely.

Prayers to all our SR and their families
