Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of April (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have April ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in April, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Thanks for the encouraging words ladies!

The emotional roller coaster continues this am.  My 5 year old is asking when is Tommy going to be home.  That choked me up.  "Not for a long time"  whew!  It was hard saying that.  But then the next thing out of her mouth was "is he going to bring me a present"?  That pulled me out of my "moment"... LOL!

Question.  So if my SR left for BC on 4/21, by my calculations his PIR date should be 6/19, is that right?

Catmom:

The postal info for the goodie boxes to send to A school is terrific. I didn't realize you could do that. Thank you so much.

Carpmart mom: I completely understand. I felt the same way and I have 8 more at home. It just seemed so final. That was the end of his life with us as we knew it. He was a man. Still so very proud of him and the pride does bring comfort during the sad moments. Knowing he is working hard toward a worthy goal really does help. It just seems to soften the blow. Prayers for you during the transition. Blessings

Kelly was curious about the FB group for 6/26/15 group, my son left yesterday for BC. I also got the brief made if safe call. I did see his photo today on the Navy Recruit Command FB page today I was overjoyed seeing his face.

Niclisten I understand your feeling, my younger ones 10 & 8 have lots of questions trying to understand how long it will be before they see him. Hope it gets better for you, I know easier said than done.

My son left yesterday as well.  Got the phone call as well.  Also saw pics of him on the facebook RTC page.  I was so excited!  There is a facebook group for 6/26/15.  I joined today although not positive that will be the date.  Good luck!

Son left for BC yesterday 4/28. Got the I'm here call last night. I'm guessing his PIR date is 6/26/15. Now waiting on his kid in the box and form letter. Is there a group for PIR 6/26/15 yet?

NBSmom89 - I am holding up ok.  Still no call or letter.  Very frustrating.  Hopefully tomorrow.  I hope you get yours as well.  the waiting is awful!

Carpmart - You are not alone in your struggles.  I have had a rough time accepting that my role in my son's life will be dramatically different from here on out.  It's feels as if I have to learn how to be an entirely different mom than I had ever planned for.  Will eventually figure it out - and I will grow right along with my SR... as will you.  GOOD LUCK!!!!

Niclisten ...yes it is maddening!!! Tomorrow marks two weeks since he shipped out and boy has it been the LONGEST two weeks. He has four siblings at home and twin 8 year old sisters who are really having a difficult time.
