My son left on 8/1 and I received his box this morning FedEx! No Surprise message inside, but I have never been so happy to see his dirty clothes in my life! One week down...shouldn't be too long before I get the letter! I think I just might make it!

Me too! Was really hoping for a note or something :(
I didn't get a note either, I was sad....
I do not have any info on PIR date. We should all be getting the form letter in the mail very soon. Check the mail daily and I will do the same. I am in the process of moving so I have two mailboxes to check now :)
I just received mine, too! No note, just the expected which is fine! The things that bring us joy right now!!
I know right! I've never been so happy to see his dirty laundry before. LOL!!!
I got my kid in a box today!! Minus the kid though. No note, only his boarding pass and a card from the Hard Rock where we ate the night before. I thought we were supposed to get an address. My son shipped out on the 2nd.
Pretty sure we will be getting a form letter in the mail. I thought we would at least have a little hand written note from them. But no note :(
Still no box here. Son shipped out August 2nd. I'm seeing conflicting information for when people think PIR will be for those who shipped 8/1 & 8/2. I calculated 10/5, but some are saying 9/28? Anyone know anything for certain?
I am just going to wait for the actual form letter to arrive to confirm. Yes, your calculation makes sense and that is what I was thinking also.
Before my son left, he said he thought PIR would be the first weekend in Ocotber. This would be great since we are out of school for Columbus Day that Monday. We are planning on stayin at GL from Thursday thru Sunday night! I am anxious to start sending him letters, so I can't wait unil we get our letter. I promised I would not call his recruiter, he wants to do this whole thing on his own...by the books. Funny thing is, my daughter is in DEP (leaving for GL 4/3/13...then Nuke School in Charleston, SC) and the recruiters called her on Monday to see how everything went with my son leaving!
