For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Just dropped my son off at the hotel. Will watch him swear in at 10am tommorow and then that's it! He is on his way . He is so excited where I am a nervous wreck. :(

Today was one of the most difficult days. I am so proud of my SR. He was so strong. I am Canadian and married to an American. We have raised our boys to be dual citizens. Today, I felt the power of being an American. I was so proud of all the kids doing their oath.
All of the information I have learned on this site has been immeasurable. My son rolls his eyes when i say " NAVYMOMS.COM say ..." It was empowering to read all of the messages that all of the other mother's with children leaving today posted.
I look forward to seeing what Boot Camp throws at our recruits. I am very proud of my Navy Boy and honoured to be included in this incredibly strong tradition of protecting the USA.

So they are off! I am feeling sad. He called last night and said I will get address in the next few weeks. My husband and I have a trip planned and now I am worried I will be away when his address arrives.

My son left two days ago (8/4/2015) and it already feels like it's been forever! Can't wait to hear from him and know he's doing well!

This is my first experience with military and my first child leaving the nest. I cried like a crazy person on and off for weeks before my son left... even had a full blown meltdown one night whre I cried non stop for about 8 hours.... I handled his ship out day better than I thought I would. Yes, there were tears, but just a little. I feel like I needed to be strong for him and I am trying to continue to do so. My husband is NOT doing as well... he didn't really have any emotional issues leading up to it, but the day he left... basket case! Now he cries easily and misses him terribly already... it's only been a couple of days.
May sound weird, but I feel more pride and joy than fear and sadness and I feel obligated to be the family rock as we work through his absence.
Bryce is the oldest of 3 boys... his brothers are 16 and 11 and seem ok right now, but I think they will miss him more as time passes. -

My son left on aug 5 its been hard a lot crying a lot of different kind of emotions. I did receive his box of stuff and the address where to write him.
