For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son left for GL on Wed & I’m still crying!
I got the ‘scripted’ 30-sec call at midnight.
I’ll be out of the country for a couple of weeks & won’t be home to get his mailing address, so I will leave some letters for our friends to mail for me. -

My son left this past Monday, 8/6 and I too am still crying. He is my baby so we are also first time empty nesters. Such a strange feeling in the house. I have to keep reminding myself that he's not dead he's starting a career for himself and that this is a wonderful thing that is happening right now. It works sometimes, other times not so much. I think part of the problem for us is that we had no clue he was going to enlist when he did. I'm not even sure he had planned it that way. It's great to be able to communicate with other moms on this site as we are all going thru the same thing just at different stages. We have to hang on there....it's got to get easier. I keep thinking about graduation and how I'm going to be over the top proud of him and can't wait to see him in his sailor uniform. The tears will be flowing like crazy.

hello all!
my son left on the 8. i too find that the house feels differently. we too are also empty nesters too now. i have a hard time being by myself at home. i havent cleaned up his room yet. i have been writing letters. this is my second time going thru this, but it feels like the first. my oldest was in for six years. then i had two other boys home. now there is no one.!but we are navy moms and we will get thru this. i too keep thinking of PIR and how really proud i will feel. take lots of tissues! good luck to both of your SRs

Thx for encouraging words. Your son would probably be in the same group as mine!...Aug 8. I, too, haven’t cleaned up his room etc. I have 1 older son away in college, so yes, empty nester. When do you expect his ‘box’ to be mailed out, & arrive?

IdahoMom, "the box" was sent the night your recruit arrived and usually arrives 3 to 4 business days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC. Check your My Page. I left info for you a while back.

We are still waiting for the box to arrive. I'm hoping fedex will leave it even if we aren't home at the time of delivery. More excited about getting the form letter and hopefully a letter from my son in the next week or two but also scared of that first letter and what it might say. This not knowing how they are is tough!

hello!
i too cant wait for the form letter and my kids in a box. my husband is anxious to reserve a hotel room. we will be driving so we dont have to get airline tickets. i agree that it is hard not knowing how they are doing. i am making myself keep a positive attitude and praying all the time. writing letters seem so slow now. lol
