My son left on the 5th too and we are only about 3hr south of Chicago and no sign of the box yet. I also know how you are both feeling. He is our only child so our house is so quiet. Im not sure if I understand how this messaging works on this feed. Ive tried to comment over the last few days to others post but Ive not gotten any response but this time it looks different. Hope we all hear from our kids soon or at least the next couple of weeks passes quickly :)
Revdeb, our son will be going to school in Pensacola for Aviation Ordinance. It too will be a long way from us, about 12 hr drive, but we are very excited for him. Its just so hard getting used to him being gone. It will be so much better when we can at least talk to him some. I'm sure you know how we are feeling. SUB school sounds interesting. How long will he have to be there. Jake will be in Fl. 9 weeks. Hoping he'll be home around Christmas.

mandy, my son, Garrett will be in Pensacola too. Maybe they will be on the flight from Chicago together. We live outside of Atlanta so only a 5 hour drive for us. Plan on going to FL for Thanksgiving if he can have some time to leave and spend with family.

The last time I saw my daughter was on 8/4, when the shuttle van picked her up to transport her to MEPs in San Antonio. Emotional! It felt like my heart was ripped out and an elephant had sat on my chest. Throughout the day and night leading up to her departure and arrival in Chicago on 8/5, we were able to text and talk on the phone about what she was experiencing: her feelings, her goals, her strength and courage, how much we loved and would miss each other, how proud of her decision to join, and we prayed for spiritual, emotional, physical strength, and for the Lord's armor. Her "scripted call" came in at exactly 1:30 am, Wed. A range of emotions were felt as I listened to her voice. Suffice to say my head was pounding and my heart was jumping out of my chest. It's been six long days since she left. It's been hard, especially in the evenings. I've had an abundance of support and prayers, so it's getting easier. Reading the comments of encouragement, of understanding, and advice from others who have or who are going through what I am, have become my balm. Thank you!

What ship and division?

Got my form letter today also!!! Ship 09 DIV 308! lemonelephant when do you think we might get a letter from our recruit?

Your recruit will have holiday routine for the first time on Sunday, 17 August, so the first "real" letter will arrive next week some time. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.

Hello. My daughter left on 8/4. I got her Formal letter on 8/10. Her graduation is 9/26. She is on ship 12. div 303. Would love to hear from Moms who have loved ones in this division

I left info on your My Page.

Hi, V's Mom.

I've been reading and absorbing all the information on this website, which is fantastic. Thought I would just "quietly" observe without ever interacting, but I'm feeling a slight sense of worry. My son left from Dallas on August 5 and I've yet to receive his box. It probably sounds silly to some, but considering it's the next "message," so to speak, after the scripted phone call, I'm very anxiously awaiting its arrival. Have you received your daughter's box with her clothing yet?

Thanks in advance for your (or anyone else who replies) feedback!

tysmom, check with FedEx to see if a delivery is in the system for you.

Check your My Page.

I called FedEx this morning. They said they had no record of a delivery to my address. I was feeling anxious and worried most of the day, until I checked my mail after work and found the form letter. Whew. Very happy to get it. Still wondering about the box with his clothes and cell phone, but I'm just happy to have the contact and the information via the form letter. Thanks for all the info!
