For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son texted at 2:51 to say his plane just landed in Chicago. Is was great to see his final swearing in. There were only four there and we were the only family in attendance. We didn't go to the airport because the filght was leaving in a couple of hours and with travel time and security, we would have been in the way and that would have made it harder on Steven. Wow---time went fast from December till now.

Ill be in your shoes next week, my son leaves from Louisville ky Wednesday. We live near Cincinnati, which is a two hour drive to meps. We're going to see him get sworn in and hope to spend some time before he flys out. He's never flown before --- hope we are able to go to the gate, but if AJ wants to cut the strings at the security gate, that's ok,,,,I'll loose it either way :). Good luck to you and Steven

I have a good friend whose son left from Louisville a few years ago. She worked at the Millenium and lived in Walton, KY so I now Cincinnati fairly well. She is back my way now. Steven had never flown before---I just got the phone call! It was about 8:35. He sounded tired and just said I'd get another call in 2-3 weeks and a box next week. He then said he loves me. I tried to get in some kind of stupid advise like hydrate and get rest when you can. What was I thinking!!?? Oh well, after the I love you--he hung up. I guess the phone is now in the box to come home. Hopefully I can get a good nights rest knowing he is there and the call has been made--yeah right, don't think a good nights sleep will come for a few nights. Enjoy your week. I think we'll find these boys are capable of more than we think. I certainly hope so after looking at the trashed bedroom he left!

I'm in Harrison, right on the Ohio / Indiana state line. Know both you mentioned well. Long drive from Walton to the millennium for work!
I'm not going to try to give advise when he calls, I only want to let him know how much I love him and how proud I am of him.
He keeps joking that he is not going to clean nor straighten up his room before he leaves, and I warned him I would just leave it and shut the door, and he can deal with it when he gets home. I noticed today he had brought up from the basement an old toy tub about 4' x 3'. I believe if it's currently on the floor it will end up in the thub and in the closet.
Let's keep in touch - we're only a week apart, and I'm sure I'll be happy to chat and keep up on how Steven is doing

I hope you are enjoying your last few days. This has been a rough week and weekend. Last night I went to Steven's best friend's grad party but couldn't stay long. It was too hard. There were so many pictures of Steven and Roy from as long ago as 6 years old. Then all the friends started coming and it was just too much to take. I left some paper there and I think they all wrote short notes to Steven for me so send. I'll pick them up in a few days so I can start sending them when I get an address. It's just too much right now. My husbsnd started trying to clean Steven's room today. He got about 6 bags of garbage. I swear that kid still has bags of chips from 6 months ago. There is still a lot to do. There is so much firefighting clothes and EMT equipment, not to mention high school stuff and tons of clothes. That will have to wait for another day.
Enjoy these few days. Remember how proud you are of your son.

Chip called last night or this morning at 1:55am to tell me he's there. From my phone I tracked his plane until it landed. From Shreveport to DFW then to Chicago. Made me feel better.

Hello,
I am an active “veteran” (been through BC) mom on the PIR groups on this site. My Seabee PIR’d over a year ago and I decided to stay on the site and help out.
Since we have 7-8 PIR groups running at one time I do what I can to try and get to the DEP groups…we used to have a few more moms on here…
If I may suggest…please post any questions you have on the main wall of this group (but don’t quit posting to each other here!) and I will try to get over here to answer them! I will check it at least once to twice daily.
I will also post the current PIR groups on the main wall so you can find them and join to start getting to know the other moms. There are also other long time veteran moms there to answer questions and lend support as well.
For those that have a recruit shipping out later this month…I have re-posted some of JessicaB SailorMom’s great advice on the main wall.
