Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Son leaves for RTC 5AUG2014
My son just passed MEPS last week and his report date is 5AUG14. I know he thinks it's a LONG time but he is finishing high school and it will FLY by.
I'm super excited and proud of him but, in typical mom fashion, I'm nervous and scared for him too.

Well, as I was sure was the case, they wouldn't let him test in a rental vehicle. My husband called our son's recruiter and he said he didn't need an actual driver's license as long as he had a state issued photo ID. WHAT????? I've been freaking out about this for nothing????? He has a state issued ID, he has a driving permit...that's an ID. DUH! :)

I was the same way, Mishka. I was told Robert can get his license after boot camp. So we are not worrying abt it anymore. I was freaking too.

Whew! That was a nail biter wasn't it? :)
Less than 2 weeks now! I'm finding myself being very contemplative about everything. The nightmares have started also. Strange creatures attacking him as a 5-6 year old boy (not his adult self), him being chased by unknown forces and I'm powerless to protect him....that kind of crud. :( My subconscious is working overtime apparently! :)

I am just trying to enjoy the time we still have. I am not prone to nightmares, so I hope they don't start. It is difficult to think about putting all my trust and faith in such a huge "family" i.e. Navy, as we have always had such a small family. But I know "issues" can happen anywhere and I want him to enjoy all the opportunities he will be presented!

Ok I'm calling on my Navy mom's. Having a bad day it's twelves days till Anna ships out and I am a blubbering baby today. I don't know why I'm doing this feel a little out of control. Just need you guys to send a little pray up for me today. Thanks

OMGosh! Me too. My son "caught" me tearing up last night. He hugged me and said, It's gonna be ok, Mommy" (That made it worse in some aspects LOL) Guess its finally hitting me.

Hi, my son leaves for boot camp August 4th. I just wanted to say you are not alone. I'm a pretty independent, headstrong lady and I knew I would miss him but the emotional roller coaster I've been on as the days tick away has taken me by surprise. Some days I feel pretty good, other days I can't seem to stop crying. My close friends have taken to telling others "don't ask her about Tim. She hates crying in public". Haha. I'm seriously hoping this will get a little better once he's gone. He is my baby & this leaves me with an empty nest that I'm not looking forward to. It is a cruel trick of nature to combine empty nest with the emotional upheaval of menopause. Thanks ladies for letting me babble. Hugs to you

My son is my only child. I can't imagine this house without him. I thought I could get through this fairly easy, WRONG!!!!!!!!! 8 days, I can't believe it.

Right in the same boat with you. Our son is our only child and even though we have been preparing for this for a long time (this is what he's always wanted so we knew we would have to let go) it's hitting me like a ton of bricks! His dad is very stoic about it but I'm an emotional mess. I'm usually pretty darned tough but this has hit me unexpectedly.

My son leaves Atlanta next Wed for GL. Just discovered this site and now feel totally behind the eight ball- power of attorney, calling cards, immunization forms, social sec card? He made it sound like he jumps on the plane and goes. Any firm list of what I should gather for him?
