jamieRN,
My son wants to know what rate is your son going to be? It was my turn to be teary eyed when discussing Adopting a Christmas family at work and made the mistake of saying I would have one less boy this year :( hope you have a wonderful week
Cherbear,
It's nice to connect with other moms going through this at the same time. Michael leaves here on the 3rd travels to meps then flys out to great lakes Dec 4. Look forward to keeping in contact with you.
My son also is flying out to Great Lakes on Dec 4th. I'm getting so anxious with each day.
I'm baby jays mama.... He leaves December 3rd, then off to bootcamp then nuke school! Anyone near LB California? Sad tonight

I just found this group; my son is also leaving December 3rd.

My son leaves on Dec. 3rd as well.  We're from Delaware.  I still haven't received ANY information about what will happen on that day, so hopefully he'll fill me in after he meets with his recruiter today!

Check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for.... There is a link to a discussion at the bottom that tells you what to expect at MEPS and others within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for what to expect once he gets to the RTC, beginning with Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

jerrysmommadonna,

I belive there is a link on the main page that tells you what happens at the MEPS Station and then one to let you know what will happen when they reach Great Lakes. If you havent already you might want to join the boot camp page there is some wonderful veteran moms with great info.Sending you big hugs and blessing your way. My son is also leaving the 3rd

Thanks Michaelsmom!  I mean more of the actual day....will they let us take him to the airport, watch him swear in.....I've got plans to make...:-)

I joined the Boot Camp Moms as soon as he started talking about signing up!  A lot of great information!  So glad I found it!

You cannot take him to the airport, but you can meet him there. Yes, you can watch him be sworn in if you let the recruiter know you want to do that so they know you will be there. Some MEPS require you to have a pass.

jerrysmommadonna,

I am not sure about Delaware, But the MEPs here in Oregon will let you watch the Swearing in Ceremony. I believe that you may go to the airport but they will transport your son. Our MEPs is to far from our home we wont be able to make it up to see that one but we where able to see the first swear in. Our boys time is getting close.
