He said he dont know if he will be able to call beofre the swearing in. I plan on taking the day off to go even if i have sit at the airport ALL day waiting to see him off. I knew this was going to be hard but everything has changed since i went in. I dont know what to expect, what ship/div he is in or anything. Can some one please help this Old squid calm her fears.

you can actually go with him for the swearing in. He will have to report the night before, but you can be there to witness it. he will then board a bus for the airport. I don't know what the policy is for the airport - my daughter was not allowed to go and see him off. He was able to take his cell phone and communicate with her until he reached great lakes and had to surrender his phone to be shipped back home. Go to the swearing in - it will be a proud moment for you! I don't know where you are from, but try to be able to go to his graduation from boot camp. that's an extremely moving ceremony and a step forward for your son in to his naval career. Good luck! I know you are very proud of him!
I plann on going o his swearing in. Already took the day off. I also counted about 8 weeks out from his shipped date and told my boss around that day i will be off for a week. We live in louisiana and his father and i are going to his graduation no matter what it takes. I remeber my mom coming to mine over 20 years it was the greatest day. I felt sorry for the other girls who didnt have family come. I dont want my son to feel like we arent proud of him because we are.
