My daughter is in the DEP program and is leaving from Jacksonville, Florida. We live in Savannah,Ga and will be going down to see her sign. She is 22, graduated from high school, has tried college, and did not like it. She has always worked, since she was 15. She is a hard worker but has never found anything she liked enough to stick with it. She lived away from home for 2 years but has been home since last Feb. She came to us about joining the Navy. She told us that she knew the Navy would give her guidance and a future. Being children of Air Force fathers, her Dad and I were all for it.

Now the time is here, and I am a nervous wreck!  I pray she will stick with it and do well.I too am so happy to have N4MOMS to get answers to my constant questions.

Mini, my daughter left on 1-9-13 from San Diego.  She is now on her 3rd day at Great Lakes.  She went to a university for 2 1/2 years, but decided to find her own path, which turned out to be the Navy to expand her life experiences and see the world!.  She also worked part time since she was 16 and was very responsible.  She became a Lead at her job this last year.  She liked the additional responsibility of trying to think up ways to increase profits, but she really needed a job with better pay.  She researched all the military branches for what kind of careers offered and what would best tranfer to the private sector.  The Navy provided the best options.  She'll be in IT training in Pensacola after Boot Camp.  What is your daughter's rate?  Maybe they will meet.  Daina is on Ship 03, Division 109.  You know this is the Lord's plan for both their lives~~

Catmom, she is going into AO.
Kylesmom, I'm so happy for you. I totally understand how you feel, but after raising a boy, I'm not surprised. Lol He's 32 now and a new father, and I think finally understanding what a parent goes through.
Oh, btw, we heard that A school is backed up about 3 months. This means they will be assigned jobs until a spot opens. This could be in P. Fl, GL. Or I guess anywhere.
