Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I was able to help with the address for Navy StepMom, so now she and her husband can write. :o)

Navy StepMom, if you know what division he is in we can get the address for you.  Otherwise, go by a Navy recruiter and see if you can get the address (double-check the address the recruiter gives you against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp). Otherwise you will need to wait for a letter from him.

I spoke with my stepson this past week because he needed additional info for clearance.  His mother won't release his address to us because she claimed he didn't want that but he said that wasn't true.  His father is heart broken and just doesn't know what to do.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I didn't want to press my stepson on the phone so I just left it at that.  I know he is going through enough right now.  We don't want him to think that his dad doesn't care and this is why he isn't writing him or doesn't show up at graduation.  I'm sure we aren't the first people to deal with this situation.

Just a reminder, do not post full names or email addresses.  If you have done so, use the little x and delete the comment.  If you feel a need to share contact info, then please do so in a PM through the site. (See the Community Guidelines and OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) for more on that.)

My fiance's box FINALLY came today! :) He left for basic January 24th so it was long overdue. However, it was very emotional but I'm happy that I got it at long last.

Hoping for the PIR letter very soon confirming his graduation date so I can buy tickets and make reservations. :) :)

I got a letter from my SR today.  He said he misses us lots but especially his 6 month old niece!  I can't seem to stop crying...I don't know if it's cause I miss him with my whole heart or if I am nuts.  Hoping everyone gets their letters SOON!!! I have read it over and over again.  Love to all of the moms out there and to our kids out there in Great Lakes working their tails off!!!

For those of you who haven't done so yet, you may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group once you know the date and can join that. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.

correachica, If he stays in GL for "A" School, you will want to leave late Sunday or on Monday.  If he flies out to "A" School, you will want to leave late Saturday or on Sunday.  PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will tell you more about that.  Now is a good time to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members).

Got my letter today from my son. PIR 3/22/13, ship 11 division 126. He even wrote a special message in his form letter, I love you mom.  He is such a nut, he even wrote a special signature on top of his box.  His name with a long wiggly line all over the top.  I'm going to start booking my travel plans. Might use Navy Lodge, heard it has been remodeled. Not should if I should stay until Sat. or Sun.? Any suggestions?

So glad you got your call Kelly.  This is a tough time for them but like you said they will be stronger for it.
