Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

The addresses of your SR can be obtained several ways.  It won't come in the box because that box was done on the day they got to GL and they don't have a ship/division number that day.  Some don't have one till the following week.  You can call your recruiter which is what I did.  I had to bug him several times.  I didn't get my SR address till the following week after he got to bc.  The day I got the address from the recruiter the form letter showed up in the mail with all the information on it.  You will get the mailing address, PIR date, password for PIR gate passes and instructions for you.  A lot of us in PIR 2/11 got a small message from our SR at the end of the letter.

Patience will be your new word for the next 8 weeks.  If you don't have any you will by the time PIR comes.

Hey oregonmom, we don't have to split up at all.  You can call me Tami, yea she was a noon sleeper.  I couldn't help but chuckly thinking of the RDC's going in there and getting her out of her bed.  LOL  Oh to be a fly on the wall just one morning.  The ironing also, she never ironed here, I did it all for her.  I know I know, shame on me.  But it was easier to do it than to stand there and coach her.  I haven't received her box just yet, but I do have her address.  The recruiter is awesome where that is concerned.  He said i should be getting her box within the week.  So, I look forward to getting that.  Her ship is 07 and Division 105.  Is anyone else in this one?

I have been so comforted by all of you on this site. It's neat that now we are thinking of the funny things about our kids. We must grin and bear this (corny I know). I think it's so funny Hannahs mom to think of til noon sleepers getting up soooo early and the ironing picture is hilarious. It feels great to smile with you Hannahs Mom that you have gotten your box and know where your daughter is going. I hate to think we are going to split up. You all have been so wonderful to be with through this time. Would love to stay in touch. xo

A special thanks to JessicaB for all the info. You have been sooo incredible to come back and guide us. xo

haha...I would love an ironing picture!

Hannah's mom--great news!! Was her address in the box or did you get it from the recruiter? I'm hoping the box comes this weekend. :)

Hey Beth, Junebug, Jessica and everyone,  I just received my daughters address, she is Ship 07 and division 105.  Her PIR date is March 18th, does anyone else have that same date or division?  Let me know, I would love to start planning our trip up there to watch the PIR.  I would love to be a bug on the wall when they wake her butt up at 4:30 in the morning.  LOL  She used to sleep til noon every day.  Okay, let me know what is going on with everyone, would love to chat.

Junebug....My SR wrote me and told me the first couple of Sunday's before they were allowed to write they did a lot of ironing.  Independent studying, shine shoes but NOT sleep.  Once they were allowed to write that would also fit into the schedule of Sunday mornings.

Hello everyone...I hope all of you had a good day. I keep looking at the clock wondering what he is doing. I am in the process of reading "Honor Courage Committement" which is about BC. I had my son read it last week. It gives you an idea of what they are going through.

Quick Question: (and this may sound silly but forgive me)....do the recruits have Sunday's off? I'm assuming not Saturdays. And if they do, what do they do on a Sunday? This is me, being curious! :)

For all those who had a son or daughter leave for BC in the last few days.I hope no one minds but I took the initiative and set up  our PIR group   Its called  PIR 3/18/11  If we find out that it is 3/25, I can easily change it

Hope you all got some much needed sleep last nite   Im off to the office after having been off for a week  I definitely feel like I need another week to recup for last week   However work will be a welcome deterrant to worrying about what is happening in GL    I just hope I dont become a babbling idiot when I get questioned about how Dan is doing today

Stay Strong!
