Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Beth  somehow it makes me feel comforted that Dan will be close to you when he goes to bootcamp.   Its been a rough few days here   My husband - Dan's step dad has been a real idiot the last few weeks toward Dan   Dan lives on his own in one of our rental units and my husband  Bob wants him to do things in that house that really aren't his responsiblity   There's been a lot of angry words but to Dan's credit he's trying to keep his cool and counting the days.  Unfortunately that means he feels that he can't come home with out arguing with Bob.   So needless to say besides the normal stress of just a son leaving for bootcamp, I have this to deal with too

Woooohoooooo, can't wait for the party!!!  I woke up this morning thinking, just one day closer til my precious daughter steps out on her own.  I am trying to stay excited for her but it is hard.  I can't tell you all how comforting it is to know that I can cry with you all and you can appreciate the feelings.  My hubby keeps telling me that it isn't that bad.  Yea, whatever!!!  Guess that is the mother in me.  You guys have a great day and God bless.

Wow we are entering into the final week with our sr!  This last 3 months has flown and we still need to get some final things done.  Today we will get his POA done and will take yet more stuff to his storage unit.

I was doing well with not breaking down but when we went to bowling the other night and our sr was no longer on our team in the league bowling I broke down a little.  The realization caught me off guard that he will be spreading new wings in another few days.

I think it will be an exciting week and a half but bittersweet!  My sr is definitely changing before my eyes.  Amazing.

Our son has been in Chicago/BC since Wednesday evening!  Do you think he has gotten any sleep yet?

I ordered my blue candles from quickcandle.com.  They are reasonable and they arrived at my house in 2 days...

My son leaves this Wednesday.   His recruiter is picking him up Tuesday.  I find myself clinging to my phone in case he calls.  I want to enjoy every conversation we have right now.  I'm planning on driving to see him swear in and take that first official step from civilian to sailor.  I'm very proud of him and confident this is something he really wants to do but my tears do flow when I share with friends.  I've felt very emotional.  In front of him, I've been able to maintain.  Since he's been living on his own this year, he's bringing all his belongings home this weekend in preparation for leaving.  He has worked his full time job all the way to today just so they would hold it for him while on military leave.  I've been proud to watch him make decisions that were sound.  He asked me to get his baby picture out that he had a sailor suit on in.  Funny he remembered that, I didn't remember but he wanted to show the family.
