Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Today is Marc's birthday. He didn't want anyone in BC to know so I won't send any cards but we got a cake and his sister, dad and friends wished him happy birthday. His nephew (2years old) was so cute about the cake and saying happy birthday. His cousin was born the same day so it is hard to know that he is here but not Marc. Hope all is going good. I hope all your kids are doing good!!

Brenda, I know your pain. My son, Marc is also Grad. on the 19th of March. It would be nice to chat with you. It would be cool if they are in the same ship and div. I got a call from Marc today and I thought something was wrong because he said it would be 3 weeks before I heard from him. He sounds ok but said it was hard but it was something he had to do. I am so proud and you must be also. Here for you anytime.

I hope to find others that have a child in my sons ship. He called today and to was worried something was wrong cuz he just got there on the 20th. He told me his Div. did good so they got to call home. It was so great to here from him. He has his Grad. on March 19th also. Haven't got the box yet but I am sure I will see it soon. Would love to chat with other family of kids that are in BC.

This gives a lot of information on what to expect.... and learning their new language.. It also states a standard size envelope... my first letter is already 3 pages long and would never fit in standard...my daugher's birthday is today and I sang a whole song just on one page...lol

My husband left 1/19 and I got his box, yesterday. We live in Washington State. I'm glad phone calls are coming. Being able to write has helped, letters back will help a lot. He should graduate about 3/19, same as your son, Brenda. It is good to here some news from the inside. Thank you many times over, Brenda!

Ok... so I'm reading everyone got their box... my daughter left Tuesday.. didn't see anything in plain view... when I get home.. it's dark... so after seeing some received theirs... I turned on the light to the porch and it was behind the chair! Ok.. so I rip it open... as the recruiter has yet to give me her address...system was down yesterday....no little note inside the box... they sent everything back... everything they had on the list they were to bring....even the little composition book she took with addresses in it.... but kept the pages with the addresses......they even sent back her wallet! They opened her box of "sanitary" item.. and that's where she put the stamps! lol...my dog is smelling her clothes.... she was following her around the whole time she was home before she left... I think she knew she was going to be gone for awhile... so I'll leave those clothes out for a while for the dog...lol... just waiting for an address!

To Brenda. Wow your box came so quickly. That's great! My husband went to BC on Wednesday also. I'm still waiting for mine and the letter as well.
