Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Thanks Melissa3b and JoleneG4Cman. I do look forward to this site to learn everything I can and I do agree , the little things I do appreciate. I had to let go of 2 children  in the past 5 months so it is hard, but I have 1 little one left who is also going through this journey. I guess the next step is receiving "the box".

My kiddo left yesterday also from Seattle.    He's pretty nervous.   I got more phone calls/conversation from him while he was on the journey (SEA airport, CHI airport) and then the "call".   I haven't had that much phone conversation with him ever!   I loved every second of it, even though he sounded so stressed.   I usually text him throughout the day when I am at work and I never get replies.  I may just keep doing that while he's in BC justto make myself feel better.

When I got his "I'm here" call last night I could here his stress. It was so hard after we hung up. I am just saying prayers today for him and I! This site has helped me SO much this morning. I have already started writing him so I have letters ready for when I get the address. His letter and call cannot come soon enough!

GaGirl, It has helped me by just staying on this site a good bit. Reading endless posts about bootcamp and his school. Learning all I can so when I do talk to him I can share what I've learned and be knowledgeable. It's the small things also that I'm so thankful to be learning, that only people in our shoes could know. Like why his jeans would be rolled up when they come in the box, cause they measured their feet for shoes and then moved on to packing the box so fast they don't have time to unroll them. The little things! We will definitely start treasuring the little things and small moments.

so my son left yesterday  and we received the "I'm here" call late last night. I have so many emotions flooding me now. I think not only is he in BC but so am I. I am learning how to deal with not knowing anything and not being able to pick up a phone to call or text him. I should be able to use this to prepare   for his future deployments.

DenyseNavyMom, Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

DenyseNavyMom,

Do not use the address on the box. Wait for the form letter (usually about 10 days after arrival at RTC) for his official address.

IT DID COME!! YAY!!  WE ARE SO EXCITED :-)

Had the other kids check all the doors today for a note from FedEx about the box, I am still at work. It didn't come today.. :-( I am so disappointed. I was just sure it would be today. Praying we get it tomorrow. I need something of his to hold on to, I know it will make us all feel better to get his things back. And Denyse...I think we have to wait on the form letter to get correct address and it comes about a week after the box.
