Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hi ladies!! I pray that all of you are well and for our SR's to be
In goor health with their bodies and minds sharp and to retain
All that they are learning for test time!!
I have a question: I heard that if they are in A 900 Division that they signed
Up to do some talent or something??? What's that about?

Cat, I know how you feel.  My own Mother is always second guessing everything.   I asked her if she had written my SR (son/her grandson)?  She had not.  She is the queen of letter writting.  I was so hurt.  Even typing this I'm getting all upset.

Thank you philipeach!!!  Hopefully word will get around.  I mentioned in the letter I mailed just before the storm that it was going to snow again but didn't mention that the mail might not run for a few days.  He may not think about it with so much other stuff on his mind.  LOL.  Thanks again. :-)

jbug (ship 09 div 107) - When I saw the weather forecast and what was coming, I sent a quick letter off to my SR to give a heads' up that mail would probably stop for a few days. Hopefully, she can help share that message.

Popeyesgirl - you are welcome.  The few times my son has called AND in his letter he stressed how much he wanted everyone to continue to write him.  I hate to think that he will not get mail for a couple of days and not know why.  :(  Hopefully he will be able to call again soon and I can tell him.  Stay warm and safe!!!

jbug (ship 09 div 107 - thank you for that message - I'm in the same boat! Haven't seen the mail lady since Monday! : )

Hello everyone!!!  I'd like to ask a favor to anyone who talks to their SR.  Ask them if they meet anyone or know anyone from the Atlanta area that we have not been able to send out or receive any mail the last two days due to ice/snow.  Should be back up and running tomorrow but I wanted my SR to know.  I've been writing him just about everyday and everyone (family and friends) that is writing him are all here in Atlanta.  Thanks so much!!!!!!!

Cat [DIV 121] - big hugs to you! : ) If you decide to say something to your daughter's aunt - I would share with her what you told us - maybe she doesn't reallize what she's doing?

Now my "mean side" would be tempted to tell her to "put a sock in it" and "if she doesn't have anything nice to say - keep it to herself!"

I know - easier said than done with family - but it feels good to play out some scenarios! : )

popeyesgirl (Ship 14 Div 103) I can't imagine if my child had to ask that... My heart would be broken also!  ♥ However you definitely understand, Thank you for your kind words.

jordanchadsmom thank you for the scripture and reminder. I would hope to think that their negativity is truly because they worry.  But goodness I can hardly take it anymore!

Cat [DIV 121] - I feel for you! My mother-in-law was openingly negative - I was furious as well as my husband - for my SR - it just motivated him. Before my grandmother passed away she was always negative towards my son directly. The day I took my son to his recruiter to go to MEPS he said - "do you think grandmother would be proud of me now?" Broke my heart! We need to build our SRs up - not tear them down - sure - everything isn't always "rosy" but our SRs are serving our country - and that's something to be very proud of!
