Welcome to N4M! You will find so much helpful info on the website. I bet you are so proud of your son. My son leaves 7/1, two weeks after HS graduation. He signed his contract to join in early June, right after school let out for the summer. It seems so far away, but time is flying! It's hard to believe that 3 months and 3 DEP meetings have passed already.

My son signed his contract in July.  He had to get his eyes examined twice.  He is a part of the Navy Sea Cadets and that has helped him a lot at his DEP meetings.  It seems every little thing this year is a countdown.  He is so excited.  Thank you for responding.  I am learning so much from this website - what a blessing. Have a great weekend!

I bet the Sea Cadets is invaluable to your son. What an awesome opportunity. Yes...everything is the LAST this the LAST that. My son created a countdown clock online for when he leaves for BC. It's strange to see when it pops up on my phone once in a while. What rating or job is your son going into? Mine is going into the Nuke Field.

My son just signed his papers in September; leaving July 2, 2014. He has been in NJROTC for the last three years. I think it's been really good for him. I have seen him grow so much in the last three years, so motivated and focused. I am so proud!

So happy to hear about your son!  Mine is a senior in H.S. and it seems like such a count down.   He is a member of the Naval Sea Cadets program, but I do not know what NJROTC stands for.  I know the Sea Cadets has helped my son at the DEP meetings, etc.  We are new to the military experience-still learning the terms. Keep in touch.

Thanks! Sounds like your son is on the right track. Sea cadets is great! NJROTC is the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps. My son loves it and it helps teach the fundamentals of military service. I remember looking into joining the Naval Sea Cadets when I was in high school. Great program.

My son is leaving July 9.  He is in his Senior year of HS.  I am finding myself taking a lot more pictures.  Welcome to Navy 4 Moms if you haven't been a part of this-it is a wonderful way to learn about what is going on, and understanding everything.  I don't get to hear everything about those DEP meetings-so I read updates from people here who have gone/going though the same things.  Is your son in high school as well?

Welcome! You will find N4M is an invaluable resource. My son leaves 7/1. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. Trust me there are no stupid questions. We are all in this together! What is your future sailor going to do for his rating(job)?

My son will graduate from High School and leave on July 8th. He was just sworn in today.

Congrats to your son and your family. I'm sure you are all so proud. Get ready for the rollercoaster ride of emotions. I have little moments all the time whether they are of pride or sadness. I just know this is the best decision my son could ever make and I'm so proud of him.

What rating or job did your son get? It's a possibility that our boys might PIR together since my son leaves just before the holiday. My son swore into DEP in June and I've been on N4M since just before he went to MEPS. I don't know as much as the seasoned Moms who've made itit through BC... But don't hesitate to ask any questions no matter how stupid. If I don't know the answer...there are MANY people here who can help.

Enjoy every moment you can with your Future Sailor. I know wewe are doing all the special things wewe can this year. My son is in the marching band in HS and is the section leader for the Clarinets. Their band gets to march in the Rose Bowl Parade in January. It's going to be one special trip for all of us.

I have to correct myself-my son is leaving July 8th as well.  He just told us part of it (thinking July 9)- when he will leave us on July 8.  That will be his 19th birthday. What a way to spend it:) It will be interesting to meet all these other people as well.  Blessings on your journey this year!

My son is July 16th!
