For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

July 1, 2019 DEP Group
Good afternoon,
I thought we could start a group for moms of recruits that left during the week of July 1, 2019. I received my call last night, but missed it as I was not expecting it, but we had some good time together before he left. I have working on not being in a panic, but I keep reading on Navy Mom FB posts ( I know its a bad idea) where recruits are being sent home for things they would normally work with them on, ex. struggling with a PT test, etc. ). They are discussing that it is the end of the budget year and they are "out of money"??
Any ideas or concerns from other moms?

Things in BC have changed a lot in the last year, but still remain the same. Recruits must now pass the initial PFA upon arrival. That PFA also has some "failing" room built in it to pass, Those that don't pass, but fall into the close, but not quite, are given a couple days to try again. If they still don't pass yes they are sent home. They most likely will be able to re-enlist again. This change has eliminated the need for so many being sent to FIT in the last couple weeks of BC, and the many failures that just never get there in the last couple weeks.
The RTC still has the "extra" programs for those that need additional academic help, social help, physical training help, swimming help etc. Those have not stopped. The recruits are responsible for showing improvement and the expectation of being able to complete everything. If they aren't showing effort or improvement from the beginning, yes, they may be released or asmo'd earlier now.
As far as the end of the year budget. Nope, still three months away, and even the TG's that are now starting and finishing BC are still a couple of months from year end. The next few TG's incoming are large groups. If it was because of budget and out of money that would probably not be happening.

My future sailor is leaving at the end of the month. I'm getting conflicting information on shot records. The recruiter said he didn't need them but I've read on a couple of postings here that he should take them. Before I rush to get them from his primary care, what's the truth?
