Hi all!  My son leaves July 18th so I was wondering if there are any others on here that their kiddo is leaving then? I've seen several other dates but not July 18.  Would love to meet some others so we can cry our ways through this together =)

Good morning Busmom129!  I hear ya!  There are days I'm not sure how I feel.  I try not to cry around him because I'm afraid it'll make it worse.  While he is at school though - I do have my crying moments.  So far my son hasn't been 'nicer' to anyone lol  We have had little arguments because he has already started stopped sharing his day or other little stuff.  I think he is trying to prepare me but I'm not going for that at all lol

My son is showing much more maturity though.  It's a little hard seeing my 'baby' all grown up and a man before graduating high school.

My son will be a Yeoman - Sub.  Long cruises with no contact but he is happy so that is all that matters.  I'll learn how to handle it.

If you need a chat don't wait to hit me up.  I'm on here a few times a day to see if there is any new information about Sub life.

Dear Busmom129,

You just put my thoughts into words. My son leaves July 17th, his assignment is Operation Specialist. I understand how you feel. I find myself looking at my son and wondering where the time has gone! I didn't have enough time with him, it seems like he was 5 years old just yesterday.

I am so proud of our boys-what a wonderful thing they are doing-but it is hard on us.

My youngest leaves on that date from FL.   My oldest leaves in June so maybe we'll have a heads up of what to expect based on how things go with him. :-)  All my boys are leaving out this summer.  A Marine in May, one Sailor in June, and the next in July.  Talk about diving in the deep end. LOL

How are you going to make it through 3 kiddos leaving in 3 months?  Wow!  That's more than diving in the deep end!  I'm glad someone else finally has a July 18 date to ship out.  I was getting worried that mine was going alone lol

No one is ever alone in the Military, T.  We're all family!  :-)  I think the biggest adjustment my youngest is going to have is the fact that there is no alone time. LOL

Right now, I'm dealing with all this pretty good.  We're making memories and attending to the things that need done prior to leaving.  Lots of DEP drills, graduation plans, party arrangements, etc.  I think it'll it me hardest towards the end of May.  Then I'll be a worry wart until everyone gets through BC.

My son's biggest adjustment will be the same.  I know he will be fine - they all will be.

We are exactly the same place lol  We have graduation in June, BC in July - and decided to have a mixed party so hopefully a big group can come.  His best friend leaves for Army BC at the end of June so I'm trying to plan the party around all three things.

Honestly I know I am way more worried than my son is.  He is mr laid back it's all ok no biggie mom.  I have my secret wish that he, at some point during BC, misses me and admits it!  I'm afraid he won't though.  I'm so excited for him!  He has always wanted to enlist so his dreams are going true - much faster than I would like lol

My youngest is exactly that way too!  "It's cool.  Why the big fuss? I don't need all that.  Well, OK, since it's a joint thing, I guess it's alright."  My goodness!  You're graduating!  You're shipping out to the Navy for 8 years.  I don't know when I'll have everybody home together again.  Of course it's a big deal.  He's very low key.  All of them are.  Like you, it seems we're more excited and hepped up than they are right now.  I'm not really worried about them.  I know they'll do fine.  I'm sure some issues will come up, as that's true for any new undertaking in life.  However, I have full confidence that they will handle it all well.  Well, maybe not my Marine.  He's a glutten for punishment and would probably ask the DI for more PT. LOL
