Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

You are very welcome.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

My duaghter a school is in chicago. anyone elses?

What will her rating (job/specialty) be? There are groups for many of the ratings with "A" School in GL.

You will want to join  Great Lakes A School Q&A and GL A-school moms. You can also check out the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page.

Culinary specialist.

Your SR will NOT be staying in GL, so don't join the groups above.

She will have "A" School in Fort Lee, VA at the Joint Culinary Center of Excellence. Join CS (Culinary Specialist) Moms and check out the Joint Culinary Center of Excellence Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for CS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/cs.pdf. It indicates 9 weeks, but "A" School is 5-6 weeks after classing up.

Your SR will most likely fly out to VA the day after PIR, so plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. See  PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend.

My son left July 3rd too.  Ive been writing letters every day and can't wait to get that first letter and real phone call.  I just want to know how he's doing.  Does he like it, hate it, so-so.  It's so hard.  Anxiously awaiting the PIR Date too.

My daughter left on the bus in Miami, Florida and then went to the Great Lakes. Did you son also leave out of Miami? I am new to all of this so I was wondering where everyone is from.
Hi Jackie,
My daughter also left on 7/3/13. I received a call from late around 11:45 that night. That is it! Waiting for her belongings and an address to write her. How about you, have you received the "box" that everyone is referring to?
Michele from Florida

My son left 7/3 and  I received the BOX today..  I thought that was quick especially considering the holiday!  hoping the letter is soon to follow so I can start to send him letters. I feel so anxious to receive any info..

Charlie brown, My daughter left out of columbus. and i got her box yesturday. cant wait to get her letter. i dont everyone recieves the boxes the same day. they say 7-10days. so how r u holdig up? its been hard foe me with britt gone but i couldnt be more proud. i am getting stronger for her. u have all of us moms and our support.

My son left July 3rd as well. I have wondered every day how he is doing.  However, I'm sure he is lovin every minute of it, based on the smile on his face when he took his oath. Waiting patiently for his first phone call as well. I haven't received the box. To all you parents "hang in there".  We will have to become a team and stick together!  Best Wishes to you all! I am so very proud of all of them!
