My son is finishing up his senior year and looking forward to beginning his Navy life.  His rating is Operations Specialist.  He is the first of my 3 boys to leave the nest.  I am excited for him but can't really believe 18 years have passed so quickly.  I will look forward to sharing this experience with the rest of the Navy Moms.

My son graduates high school on May 24; leaves for GL on July 2. He is my youngest and my only son, so needless to say, I am a bundle of emotions right now. I really appreciate being able to share with other moms who have either been through this, or going through it for the first time.

Hugs to you myboysnavyblues.  We are all going to make it through this.  I have twin boys who are also graduating high school this year.  One is leaving for the Navy and the other is staying here to go to the local University.  There are good days and bad days when it comes to emotions.  I feel stronger now than I did way back when my son swore into DEP, but I think it's because I've seen so many Moms make it through this process and I've learned so much from all the information available.  I'm still going to miss my son a LOT LOT LOT, but I'm not so scared about it now.  I'm excited for him and can't wait to see him take his first step out in life.  With all the chaos of the Senior year, it's hard to fathom that he is actually leaving.  Every weekend comes and I look at the calendar and I'm shocked by how few weeks are left.  Just keep enjoying every special moment and make special moments happen that you can hold onto while our kids our gone.

Great big hugs back! Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. I am so proud of all my boy's accomplishments, but I do know it is time to let go. We come from a long line of military service, and I am so glad he is part of a proud and strong tradition. I will miss him terribly, but I am at ease when I see how confident he is. I know he made the right choice.

My son graduates on May 24 as well. These last weeks are all Senior recognition stuff.  I am very proud of him, but it is very difficult not to cry.  It sounds like he will be on a ship for the first 3 years.  I don't know how the moms get through it.  A lot of Skype? It hasn't hit my husband as much yet.  Blessings on your graduation.  Some schools do a special recognition for those going into the service.  I hope yours does.  Ours doesn't, and I wish they did.

I fluctuate from being excited to being anxious.  Really I am just proud that he has a plan for his life.  (I always thought he might live with us until he was 30 :)  There are so many young adults who seem to flounder for such a long time before they move forward in life..it makes me very proud and realize we did okay as parents.  It is going to be an exciting time.  I think that at first it will be so exciting and there will be so many things for us to look forward to...HS graduation, him leaving for BC, receiving the box, receiving the letter, PIR, hearing how A school goes etc. It will then hit me one day when I will look around the house and wonder "where is my baby?"  Life goes by so quickly.  I look forward to many more conversations with everyone.

Hi everyone my boy is leaving 7/22 and I am on a emotional rollercoaster. I feel like time is running even faster then normal. I am so proud of him but hate to see him leave needless to say he is the baby of the family. I am so grateful for this site knowing I am not alone, so thanks for being here :)

My daughter leaves July 7th... I completely understand your feelings, I am freaking out too! I feel so emotional as we are less then 30 days away from her leaving. She is my eldest and also 19. I know she is getting a little nervous also, but is trying to hide it! I am prepared to know this will be difficult but also very exciting. I am soo Proud of her!!!

My Son is also leaving 7/7!  He is 18 and is so excited about starting his Navy career, and we are excited for him.  He has chosen this path at 15 years old!  He is our youngest and only child to enter the military, so I am trying to learn as much as possible!  Great to have a place like this for support!

My son Graduates May 24 annd leaves for bootcamp July 8th as well. He is my oldest child and I am also a bundle of emotions. We live in Colorado. Glad to find other moms that can understand what I am going through.

Nonie 1234, it is an exciting time for all of us! Enjoy graduation this weekend!  There will be many of us doing the same thing-that is a big comfort.  We will get through this and need to be strong for our children so they are not so nervous.  I don't really know if my son is nervous.  I am reading the site that is about "the last month before boot camp."  I am trying to get my son to get off soda, milk, and sweets but with graduation parties it is hard.  It will be exciting to meet all these people at the PIR this September.  Blessings on your weekend. Hugs out to you!

Graduation is over so that means the next big event will be leaving for bootcamp. I can't believe how fast it is coming up. Thinking of all you moms in the same boat ;)
My son is also leaving July 8th. I have been super excited until now. When I start ticking off things to do. Going away party, last camping trip, get together at church, ect... I realize that there aren't many weeks left. He is my oldest but he will always be my baby and I will miss him so much. I'm glad to be a part of this group. :)
