While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Son leaves July 12th
I have read some of your posts and I can't say that I'm happy to see how emotional you all are but on the other hand it helps me feel like I'm not going crazy. I knew that he was leaving on the 12th and I knew that he was going to the hotel on the 11th but yet when he said it, I lost it (not in front of him) because I felt like I was robbed a day. I guess I had wishful thinking that they would just pick him up on the 12th from my house in the morning. I'm tearing up as I write this now. He is my baby boy, my pride and joy, my heart. I can't' think of a time that I'm not going to just be able to talk to him whenever I want. I feel so selfish but yet so proud. It's a horrible mix of emotions. I plan to be here often because I have a strong feeling I am not going to handle this well at all.
Thanks for creating this group and I hope to find some moms that have their son/daughter leaving the same day also.

I got "the call" yesterday morning at 2:30 telling me had arrived and to be expecting the box in a few days. I'm just relieved he's there and now I can start counting down the days!

I can't wait til boot camp is over either. I wake up thinking "I wonder what he's doing right now". I still have emotional moments. I just really miss him

Sharbear, Mine left on the 11th from NJ. I feel the same!! I have been having such anxiety attacks its awful!! Always wondering what hes doing, if he has gotten any sleep, if hes handling it ok, and most of all, if they did pull all 4 wisdom teeth like the recruiter said, hows he handling it all!! Best of luck

If you have them, they pull them. I dont know why!! But he has all 4. Ugh... But I received my box last night. When I opened it, it DID NOT look like my son packed it!! It was so nicely folder and neat. So that made me laugh!!! Just cant stand waiting for the letter... :(

My boyfriend left July 12 th from no to the great lakes. I can't believe it's only been 5 days. Have you ladies found anything to make time go by faster or to make missing him a little less painful. I promised him I'd be strong for him and that I wouldn't cry after the fist day or two but its so hard. I have already written him 6 letters they are stamped with a return address just waiting for his address so I can send them.

My son left on the 11th. Having a very difficult time as well. But last night i went on his facebook page and looked at all of his photos. Many I never saw and just made me laugh and cry. It did help though. :)

Hi cj - Did you boyfrield leave from New Orleans? My son shipped out on 7/10 out of New Orleans. I am still waiting on the form letter. I called the recruiter, but he did not have div #. I am thinking we may all be in the same PIR group 9/7. I enjoy reading all of the posts. We are all in the same boat!

I got "the box" yesterday. Apparently he was rushing as his belt was still in the loops of his shorts and nothing was folded. I was surprised to find his flip-flops and sneakers in it as his recruiter had said to make sure to take them both with him because he has size 17 feet and we weren't sure if they would have sneakers and shower shoes to fit. I'm impressed. We usually have to get all his shoes off the internet. I too am stacking up letters just waiting for an address to send them to.
