Welcome, it is overwhelming.
Especially when we are overcome with thoughts and emotions from nowhere. It is even worse when our sons/daughters or spouses don't seem to be.
Where will your son be going to A school?
My son leaves on the 3rd it is getting close and last night we talked and he said he has never been the type to stress worry ahead he takes one day at a time and let's it happen. He said he's enjoying his time with family and friends until then. I wish I could be more laid back too. He must not get that from me.

Hi! I think my son will be going to Pensacola, FL for A school. We live in SC so it is not too far!! I will be going to Columbia to see him get on the bus to the airport, then I will have alone time to fall apart!

Hi, my son leaves on July 8th...YIKES!.....I've avoided looking at the calendar and wish I could somehow slow down these last few days. I'm so very proud of him...he seems so sure and confident. he's been spending time with friends, finishing up his part-time job( last day yesterday) I really really am hoping I have some one on one with him. He's promised a fishing trip just he and I so I do hope that happens. I'm grateful for the information I've gotten already from this group and I know that just having other moms going through the same emotional roller coaster will help. Looking forward to being a full-fledged Mom of a sailor :)

Hi RobertsonJM,

I noticed you are one of the few I've seen from the south (we are from Alabama) whose son is also leaving on the 10th of July. My son will be going to Pensacola for A school as well. Maybe they will meet along the way at sometime or another.
