Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves
(Click on the link)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Good Evening All...79 days!!!!!!!!!!..It has been so busy in this house!!!!!! Prom has come and gone!! The kids Spring Break started today...my schedule is still full..leaving for Macon, Ga tomorrow to pick up one of our granddaughters...flying out to San Diego next week to get the other two granddaughters...our high school seniors will graduate May 23(also my daughters 17th bday)..preparing for the arrival of our 4th granddaughter 1st week of June and then it will be time for our SR to head to Great Lakes...
It's not too early to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for..., and to start discussing some of the things there with your future Sailor such as how to handle bad news and who will be put on the Access List....
Very true on what you said on many levels lemonelephant! Everyone please keep in mind all the MIGHTS & MAYBE's... I believe this to be the best piece of advice!!! Lots to take into consideration :-) If you're a planner plan to adjust.
While I had an idea of what to expect on PIR day/weekend.. this is only a guide line. We had 15 people that attended his post graduation celebration & it all went smoothly. We went back to the hotel for a breather then off to a park to see the shores of Lake Michigan. After some R & R we went to a lovely Italian restaurant in town. Then off to Midway at 6am Sat. I had the entire weekend planned out but only got Fri.
A few of the other hotel guest were fortunate enough to have the entire weekend with their sailor... lucky them
kathyn4kids, I'm sorry that you didn't know to check out the info in the Family Guide or within your PIR group and other places on this site, such as PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), that would have helped you to know what to expect PIR weekend so that you could have planned better. I'm glad that you are willing to share your experience with others.
The info about free time the last week before PIR will apply to some, but not all. Some recruits will have Battle Stations-21 (BST) about a week before PIR and some will have it as late as the Wednesday night before PIR (some on the Thursday night before PIR if they had to redo something).
dozy, I left info for you on your My Page. His "A" School is in GL. "A" School could start right away or he might have to wait several weeks or even months to "class up" and start classes.
Most who fly out to "A" School or training will leave the Saturday after PIR. Those who stay in GL for "A" School of training will move across the street to the TSC on the day of PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend. If you want more info on your future Sailor's rating (job/specialty), including groups and the Rating Information Card, leave a comment for me on my My Page with the contracted rating.
The default Privacy Setting on N4M is "Anyone." That means that ANYONE with access to the web has access to everything on your My Page. To change that, make change number 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile), While you are there, read the Page and see if there are other changes you need to make.
