Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves
(Click on the link)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

@otterrshort2 My recruit left on July 23. I received my 15-30 second I have arrived phone call but was told he would call again in 3 to 4 weeks. I have no box yet. I bet it arrives any day now. I was also told the letter comes about a week later. Someone said if you have his/her recruiter number you can all them and they should have the address before we get the form letter. I miss him so much too!
Hello my recruit left on July 17th. I did receive her box on the 23rd but no form letter yet. Any one know when I will be getting it? Also does anyone know if they will be able to make a call at all? Miss her so much!!! Everyone tells me no news is good news :-)
kansasmomof6, OMG you have been waiting since 7/9/13?! I feel bad now for being so impatient. Mine left on 7/17/13, still waiting on my form letter or a letter from my SR, but so sorry to hear that your SR, has to stay longer in BC, than expected. Hopefully you'll get your form letter soon along with your SRs letters! I am so happy for you that you got to speak to him and finally find out what was going on!
KansasMomOf6, your SR is one of the unlucky ones and has 10 Fridays instead of the typical 9, which happens sometimes for one arriving on a Thursday as your SR did (based on your comment in the 09/13/2013 group and your My Page rather than the date you gave below). That happens sometimes if storms caused extras to arrive in the week as happened that week. Your form letter should be arriving soon, but if he gave you the Ship and Division numbers, you can go to http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp or Ship/Division--How it Works and get the address. If he didn't tell you that info, go ahead and call the recruiter on Monday and get that info (and double-check the address) and mail letters since it has been more than 2 full weeks since he arrived at the RTC. From his arrival date, the most likely PIR date was 09/06/2013, but could also be the week after, 09/13/2013, which is what happened. (See Arrival and What Happensat the RTC.)
Slynascar88, if PIR is 09/13/2013, join PIR09/13/2013 TG 44 to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR. Divisions 349 and 350 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions. If PIR is the next week, let us know so that the group can be formed.
@Slynascar88 Ah! I'm so jealous! But good for you! My husband left on the 17th and I got his box a few days ago, still waiting on the form letter though. :P
Just sending out a BEST of LUCK to all the Moms who are sending their Future Sailors off to BC this upcoming week! And for those of you who already have SRs shipped out this month...keep strong and count those days til PIR!
We have an interesting year ahead of us as my son doesn't leave until 7/1/14 after he's graduated high school...but I've enjoyed following along your journeys this past month and it has helped prepare me for the future. Here's to Fair Winds and Following Seas.
Our recruit left July 9 and we got "the box" July 19, and the first phone call this morning (9/26). But he said they only really got started three days ago! Apparently he has been mostly waiting for the squadron to fill up with more recruits, so graduation will be about two weeks later than we were initially told. I had read elsewhere on this forum about recruits waiting up to a week to begin basic training, but I didn't know it could be delayed this long. With nothing else to do but think about home, he is pretty homesick. I hope the address arrives soon, but he said that his own letters would probably get here before we get the form letter/address.
shestampsalot, Yes numbers on a corner of the envelope. Yes in case you send many. I did that, and my son already receive them, he did not mentioned any thing about the number when he called us, but I am sure it helps. Best Regards.
It is exciting to hear that some of you have "THE BOX". Not looking for mine until at least the end of this coming week. Since he left on the 23. I have written a letter and wait to send it until I have the address. Someone suggested numbering them. I remember doing that on one of my hubbies a million and one deployments with the Army! My how it changes when it is one of your children! I hope everyone is doing well! Hugs to all!
