Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

(Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My Son left July 17th for GL from Kansas City, I have only received a phone call from when he arrived around 9pm and it was 44 seconds. I am happy to hear most of you are receiving your box and some form letters! I will keep looking for fed ex to arrive patiently :)

@proudmoas: I know how you feel, for me it was my hubby but yes, they do have good reasons for isolating them. I am ex-Army and went through BTC myself. It's mainly to fool around with their mind. We weren't allowed to make calls, we didn't even know what time it was (they took our watches and the clock in the Drill Hall didn't work) and they do that on purpose to see how you deal with things under stress and (when their cursing at you, they were allowed to then) how you react under duress. They would hold our letters from family until we earned them and would tell us things like "Your family doesn't love you" "I bet your husband/wife/girl or boyfriend is already off with someone else" "No body likes you" and things like that. It's really hard the first month but after a while we realized it was nothing personal, they said the same things to a thousand others before us and would continue to. Then it wasn't so hard, you just laughed it off and...once we were able to do that...things got easier, they started treating us more like humans and less like "maggots" and we started getting our mail. This was Army mind you, I don't know what Navy would be like since I am still anxiously awaiting word from my husband as well! But I can't imagine the mind games would be much different.

Today is day 8 for my SR who is 19... Its been hard on me and my younger son that is 17. We miss him so much. I hate that we cant write to him or hear his voice. I know there must be a reason why BC is this way. But its really hard when you are never apart from ur child for 19 years and then in one day he is gone with no communication. I cant wait to hear his voice

It's so quiet without my daughter here. I think about her all the time and wonder what she's doing. I'm so happy for her, hope the time goes by fast.

landlockedmom, that's 13 days, ugh!! My daughter shipped on 7/17 I hope I don't have to wait that long for the form letter.

Just a reminder, this site asks that we not post last names, those of our recruits (later Sailors) or our own. That is a matter of PERSEC. See Community Guidelines and OPSEC and PERSEC (MakingChanges To Your Profile)--carefully read both and then make any changes that you need to make. If you have posted and now realize you shouldn't have, you can delete it by clicking on the little x.

I went home for lunch... and still no form letter or letter from my SR.... 7/17 since she got there and my second friday (hope i'm counting correctly)

Feeling bummed... but can't let that interfere with work... still have patient's to call and lab results to enter...

Keeping my fingers crossed letters come tomorrow!!!
