Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves
(Click on the link)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

One flight down, one more to go and they will be in Chicago. The first flight was delayed so by the time they got off that plane to get on the next the door shut on him and two others he's traveling with. He called and said it okay that they will have a later flight and now they will get to have supper before they get there. I told him, he and the other SR need to stay together to make sure nobody gets left behind. I'll be so glad when I get the call from him saying he is there already! I wonder will getting there later than originally scheduled be a problem for them?
17 days... and then we say good-bye.
We've been doing our best to help our recruit be prepared physically. We find it helps the aching in our hearts.
He's running 2.5 miles twice a day; I run with him in the morning. We do P90X together each morning and then he does his timed curl-ups and push-ups.
In the evening he runs his second 2.5 miles and then does weight training (specific to his upper body) and crunches with his dad.
We were fortunate enough to find a small private swim club for him to learn how to swim, and practice the various swim strokes we've been told he needs to get by in BC. He's mainly focusing on endurance at this point in the pool.
When the swim club owner found out our recruit was doing this for the Navy, she told him, "Don't worry about the cost, thanks for serving."
Wow.
LYF, those recruits will have PIR on 08/23/2013 or 08/30/2013 depending on when their division formed. You will have to wait until you get the form lettter or division number to know which group to join PIR 08/23/2013 TG 41 - 11 Divisions (311-320 and 941) or PIR 08/30/2013 TG 42 - 11 Divisions (321-330 and 942). In the meantime, join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening. You should be receiving the form letter soon.
How do I find groups for Sailors who arrived t BC 7/1/13?
Yeah, Sharla I wasn't expecting the let-down feeling either. Glad you stayed home. But go tomorrow. Being busy seriously helps. You'll be tearful the first half hour, then your work ethic will take over and it'll be better. Remember, guys are NOT emotion-based. They are action-based. You just don't get over emotions. Husbands...Dahhh!!!! Good luck.
Sharla - I get it. My son doesn't leave until Monday. The other day while grocery shopping I picked up a gallon of milk and looked at the expiration date. I saw that the milk might be around longer than my son and got teary eyed.
I'm on my second day.... :) My daughter left on July 9th, and that day was surprisingly okay, but yesterday hit me hard. And you know once those floodgates open, it's hard to shut it off!!! Today is better again, but something as simple as passing up the corndogs in the frozen food section brings me to tears. Doesn't take much. LOL. I've watched every boot camp video out there, just to feel a little more connected to what she's doing. Hubs doesn't understand that, he thinks I'm "dwelling" but I say my God, it's been 2 days, cut me some slack! :) I won't dwell forever. Life will move on. But right now, my heart is with my girl.
Love and hugs to all of you with shippers this week! Keep breathing, ladies. We will get through this. :)
