Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

(Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Sharla, so thankful you get to spend these moment with your daughter!  Our daughter is in her 6th day of bc. You will continue to have some " weird weird weird place" moments even after she's gone.  But it's ok.  And it's very normal.  *hugs*

In such a weird weird weird place today.  It's the final full day at home.  Very last one.  Tomorrow she goes to the recruiting office at 11 and then the hotel in Houston 2 hrs away.  We're going to the hotel later that evening so we can see her for a little bit and then the next morning she swears in and will be gone.

What's getting me more than anything is that it's her last day HERE.  At home.  In this house.  In her room.  I keep asking God to calm my heart, but he seems to just keep doing it in little spurts. LOL.

Yesterday we went shopping, watched movies, played Scrabble and worked crossword puzzles.  Today she'll get blessed at church, we'll go to lunch, and then start getting her stuff ready and situated.  Need to go look at that "What they can bring" list again.  Tomorrow morning she and I are going to go hang out at Starbucks for a little while.  :)

So gonna miss that face.  :(

I will be glad to steer you to info and the groups on N4M for your SR's or future Sailor's contracted rating (job/specialty) if you let me know. There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

If your future Sailor has yet to ship, be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC.

If you have not yet joined Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), now is a good time to do so and to begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) and Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

I want to say I'm a flight attendant and had 3 young men on my flight this past Wed. night from Atlanta to Chicago. I wish I had their names. They were very polite and absolutely wonderful. I told them to make sure they kept in touch with their Mom's. They were from Montgomery, Alabama - so if they were your boys... you raised them right. On the flight out of Chicago the next morning I had 48 Graduates from boot camp. Since I fly for Delta, I am fortunate to meet a lot of the Graduates and I learn so much!

Yes, you can send a calling card or the calling cards from http://callsforrecruits.org/.  See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

Hi lemon... I sent stamps with my son but not pre paid calling card. Is this something I should (or am allowed) to send in my first letter to him?

Thanks Lemonelephant. You keep all of us so informed. We would be lost without you.

Nancy, I hope you are doing better. Today has probably been my most productive since my son left. I have a small family and relatives are not close by. I think if they were I'd be extremely worse. I am praying for all us Moms to have peace in the difficult days ahead.
