Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

(Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

MomsFrugal..yes my son arrived yesterday...I receive "The Call" last night at 1:32 am their time. I was so excited I almost forgot how to answer my phone! Let me know when you get your call. My son arrived around 5:00 pm our time. He texted me when he got into Chicago. Then the call came in at 11:32pm our time in California. Keep me posted. My son's name is Travis...what is your son's name?

I believe they they fly out on commercial. My daughter leaves July 23 for MEPS and will fly out from SF the next day for GL. Her recruiter is not sure which airline but told me to hang out in airport till my daughter notifies me which airline and time she departs. The closer time gets the more empty I feel. I'm a single mom and my daughter and I are best friends. She is kinda the second half of my brain. I'm going to miss her so much.

I feel the same!!!  I'll be a mess when dropping him at MEPS, but will be the same the next day watching him fly away.  I'm breaking down now thinking about it but I know this is what he wants and excited!!!  Does anyone know if they fly out on a commercial flight or Navy plane?  Just wondering

My daughter leaves on the 10th...We had her family party last night...She Dep'd in on Oct. 5 and its seemed like it's taken forever to get here but now going by very quickly...We're in Louisville and have to take her back up to Cleveland to leave, ( that's where she was living when she enlisted)...We're going up Sat., but have decided to leave her at her recruiters on Monday afternoon and come back home...She seems to want it that way and I'm not sure I want to watch her actually leave on Tuesday morning...Good luck everyone!!

Well ladies, I just wanted to say good luck to you and all of your SR's. I know you will be fine. Time is running short. My daughter leaves for the hotel in exactly 2 weeks! We've been waiting since Nov. 4th and time is flying! My daughter's been in DEP for quite a while now, and I am wondering if she realizes how close she really is, lol.

My son is on his way to Great Lakes! I was strong and didn't cry till I got home. We did have an incident happen I wanted to share. I drove him to the local office and they drove them to the Hotel. I met him at the hotel and we decided to go to a movie and dinner. We were getting ready to go to the show and he mentioned he had to call the recruiter about his Social Security card. I had asked this question many weeks ago ...Do you need to take your Social Security with you? He had asked his recruiter ..He said "No" So, again when we were getting ready to go into the show....The recruiter said he wouldn't need the card. Ok we are thinking "Great" we can enjoy the show and go to dinner before he has to check in at 8:30 that evening. As we are watching the show, the recruiter calls my son and said he will need it. So, after the show..I had to drop him off at the hotel and drive back home to get it. My question is "Why do they need to have it in their wallet?" It is included in their files. So, be sure the social is included no matter what the recruiter says. We could have enjoyed a nice dinner but instead I was driving like a mom on a mission to get my son his Social Card.
