Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

(Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Morning Everyone......
I just posted picture prices for anyone that would like to see it. A friend of mine gave that to me.
Mary...you will be in my thoughts and prayers as Morgan leaves today. Im sorry if I have missed anyone by name . Not intentional at all. I will keep all of our deppers and families in my thoughts and prayers.
Well, today is our last full day at home. Tomorrow David needs to be at his recruiters at 200 and then off to the hotel. I believe we will be having dinner with him and spending time with him too. Thursday will be the swearing in and him shipping out. I almost want time to freeze and yet at the same time, I just want to get this BC time over with...make sense ? I will keep checking back today to see how everyone is....sending hugs to all !!

Marquise has 2 weeks to go as of today....he leaves on July 27th. He's been working his part time job and his last day is the 20th he says. As far as Navy Fed. account he has one already that we are joint on but for some reason he still wants to open a new one once he gets to GL dunno what thats all about LOL , i guess its a sign he wants to do his own thing but i have to admit i don't know how to feel or express to him that it maybe better to keep the joint for now in case something happens or he needs something. Do you all think i should let it go or just try to talk to him more about getting a POA. Anyway to all of you ladies who have seen your son/daughter off I want to wish many exciting and happier days ahead . I have been living this Navy life now for 21 yrs and i've seen many changes and good days and rough days but with prayer, love and support its all been worth it . My only advice is keep busy and stay positive both for yourself and for your recruit. They will be just as proud of you as you are them when the big day comes.

I have been with Navy Fed for about the past 23 yrs and wouldn't trade them for the anything. They have been on every base around the world that I have been on. Even though there is not a local branch here I still do the majority of my banking with them. Also, I have never had any problems accessing money from off base overseas. Can't beat their loans either!

Hey Craig. Is this nephew going to be a CTN also?

Thanks everyone, it makes me feel better that others are also doing the Navy Federal Credit Union thing. Today begins a new journey in my young ladies life. MEPS this morning then off she goes. The sense of loss is really getting to me. Her Dad has decided not to take off work today to watch her be sworn in, which had Morgan in tears last night, and I just don't get it. He and I are very good friends but have been divorced for almost 14 years. Even though she has been mainly in my care, she is still very close with her Dad and doesn't understand why he won't come. He has shown no emotion and maybe is afraid of showing it, I don't know. My Son is taking the day off work to see his sister off, so at least I will have someone with me. Last night he said "Mom do I need to bring my diving permit to drive you home?" Matt is 16 and just learning how to drive, and is worried about me driving when I can't stop crying. I told him, yeah Matt you better bring it, although at the hotel last night he was tearing up when giving Morgan a hug goodbye.

Think I will try and figure out how to upload pictures and post some from her going away party.

Ginny, I am so glad that Morgan has been able to be there for your son. She is truly a rock and thrives on being supportive to others. I really hope they are able to meet up in BC.

Dyl's Mom, you are in my thoughts and prayers today as you too go through this journey at MEPS.

Susan, does Marc have lots of friends or family to write to him? If not I would be happy to so that he gets mail.
Comment by diannep on July 13, 2010 at 8:10am
Oh, and yes, like SusanA said...all of the Navy Fed mail will come to your house. But I think it would have been that way with any account since they use their home address while in the Navy.
Comment by diannep on July 13, 2010 at 8:09am
Mary, Morgan's mom: My son kept his other account open during bc, but opened a Navy Fed account for his Navy pay when he arrived at bc. Once in A School, he closed his local account here and now has only Navy Fed. It will be easier for her to have the Navy Fed account, I believe.

Well Morgan is at the hotel, had dinner with her and actually managed to not cry when I left, I think I have ran out of tears from this week! Will go watch her get sworn in tomorrow morning, then off to the airport she goes for GL. Morgan has decided to open up a Navy Federal Credit Union account when she gets there. I tried to get her to keep her regular account, but she decided not to do so. Has any of the other kids that have left decided to do that?
