Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

(Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My son signed up in Jan. It feels like it was just yesturday when he said "Mom it's ok I still have 6 months before I leave" I thought good it will give me time to adjust and let it sink in, boy was I wrong. Here we are 6 months later, he leaves July 12 I'm so proud but in a very sad way. Does that make sense? just when I think I have no tears left, here they come. I'm very new to all this N4M stuff, any words of encouragement, advice is greatly appreciated.

What is the likelihood that these July kids will have the same PIR? I guess i'm not clear on the exact amount of time they spend at bc. Not exactly 8 weeks I take it. So, my son told me that he is having trouble sleeping. I told him I was sure it was because he has alot on his mind. I asked him if he was nervous and he said he was more excited than nervous. I'm glad he's ready but I feel exactly like LaJoyce. One minute I get caught up in his excitement and the next minute I just want to hug him tight and never let go! This is really awful!! And more than that, I hate hiding the tears because I don't want him to think that i'm sad about his decission. I have an ever expanding lump in my throat that I swear is the size of Texas! It's amazing how I can manage to get all that comfort food past it! ha! No losing weight here until he's gone.

Just got a call from my son and he is leaving another day earlier. So we are down to 6 days and I am starting to feel sick to my stomach. I am going really to myself it is only one day. All Deppers be safe out there.

Okay so i'm reading alot about emotions changing as the days get closer...last night i tossed and turned and dreamed about my son leaving ...but the weird part is i try so hard not to feel sad or worried or anything but its like when i'm around him or i look at him i feel all emotional sad one min., then frustrated the next....Geesh this is almost bad as hormones during that "special time of the mnth" LOL

Emotions will be very raw and close to the surface as leaving for bc time approaches. Just understand that and talk about it with each other. Remind them that bc is a challenge, but A School is 100 percent better! Contact is established again...and some familieis are able to get over and see them. So tell them to focus on the bc weeks and not worry about "beyond" that, but know that it gets so much better in the contact and more "freedom" issue.

Ginny: Remind Kyle that it's not like he won't be home for 6 yrs! He gets leave, and maybe you all can get up to see him wherever he is...dogs in tow. Depending on where he is in school or stationed, if it is close by, he can get home often. One of my son's buddies stationed in VA with him gets home every weekend because he lives so close. So you never know. But even if far away, they get leave. He will see his pups and his human family too! :-)

Good Morning everyone, Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July. We have 7 days until he leaves. He has been spending time with all his friends. We have his going away party on the 5th. It seems like to time is getting away from me.
