While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of July(although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Morgans mom.....I know a little of your emotions as they have been building up within me for about a week now. Had a good long cry in the shower the other day. Of course we will keep Morgan and you as well in our thoughts and prayers. She is going to experience such wonderful things as my David will. They may even get to see parts of the world that they normally wouldnt. Let us know how you both are when you can. Hugs

My God I don't even know what to type with the emotions that I have right now. I take Morgan to the recruiters office today to leave for the hotel. I will go have dinner with her tonight, watch her get sworn in tomorrow and then will go to the airport. I am an absolute wreck. Please keep my daughter in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through this amazing journey! I will miss her so much, words can't even possibly explain. I am a single Mom and she is my entire world!

I only got back a few pictures of our family pictures but this one is just SO precious to me...I love it. I think that I will use this as our Christmas card. David, the one going into BC on Thursday is sitting on the ground at the bottom.

Morning Everyone !!
Good to see pictures and hearing that farewell BBQ's and parties are all going well. I feel your pain trust me. This past weekend was our last weekend with David for awhile. I keep thinking though, that this is HIS new adventure in life and I hope he gets to see some of the world along with that adventure. I say this now, but ask me again on Thursday when David leaves lol.
Yes, I do know Hospital Corpsman do go to Afghanistan. They go what they call " green side" which is to work with the Marines. The Marines are very protective of their " docs".......David my son, is going in as a Corpsman but going " green" is usually a volunteer thing.
Thoughts are with all the deppers families this week. I am going to take David tomorrow to his recruiters so they can go to the hotel. Still waiting on word if we can see him and have dinner with him. Then swearing in on Thursday morning.....dont think I will go to the airport unless David really wants us to. I think it may be harder to say goodbye there. He will have his cell so he can call and text me.
We had family pictures taken this past weekend and boy am I sure glad that we did. I will post a picture when I finish writing this. Im so excited to see the rest of the pictures !!

Ginny, I'm new to this group so I'm not sure if your son has left for BC or not. If he hasn't, then just take them to any military base and they will notorize them. If you're not near any military base, then retype it and take it to any notary. You are the one that needs to keep the POA, since you will be the one that will be using them. Remember too, that a POA is only as good as those that will accept them. Not everybody will take a POA, they are not required to, however most place that deal with the military will accept it. If he is in bootcamp, just have him go to base legal and request one. The main thing is if he goes in a group with his other sailors to base legal, then he's not sticking out. If he request to go by himself, then he is making himself noticed.

almost a week since my recruit left. Last night was hard we usually set at home and watch movies when I get off. So I cried alot. I sure do miss him.

Ginny, I posted the POA in the Discussion forum (above). Just take the POA to any base legal department and they will notorize it. One thing for sure, he doesn't want to do it at bootcamp. It will make him stick out from the other recruits. One thing he never wants to do is make himself noticed compared to the other recruits.
Now, I'm off to MEP, then the airport....Woo-hoo!

hello everyone, havent posted in a few days had our final weekend with our son, most of which was spent with friends, cleaned out his room OMG what a mess,lots of goodwill donations tommorrow. I now know why I never went in there. lol, Had our fill of special food request. He was to report to recruiters office for final paper work, then off to the hotel. Nice surprise hotel was totally booked and was sent back home, instead he will be picked up from home at 5am, bonus night he wasn't expecting for him in his bed. Swear in tommorrow about 1130 then off to the airport about 230 according to his recruiter. Shed my share of tears, still do at night. I'm so proud of him, and will miss him dearly. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS TO ALL DEPPERS LEAVING THIS WEEK...I PRAY FOR ALL MOMS GOING THRU THIS PROUD BUT DIFFICULT / EMOTIONAL TIME.
