Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Here is a calendar to keep track of when our loved ones leave for BC June 2011. Stole the idea from the Leaving in March group! I tried to go back through the site to get dates from those posted. Help me keep it updated! :)

My son just says he is past ready. I know he just wants to go on and get started. He is nervous though as I am sure alot of them are.
That is funny that you say that. Chris is 25 and graduated from college 2 years ago. He was going into Border Patrol as an Agent and passed everything but had been on the waiting list ever since then. He finally decided to change to the Navy which I am very happy about. The border is something I have been worried about for a long time. I know there is still danger in the Navy but I feel like he will be better off there. He also has always asked me for info all the time while he was in college. But when push comes to shove, he can make things happen if he wants it. We won't be there so they will have to rise to the occasion without us whether they want to or not. :.)
Well I don't think I'm a clingy mom either but I son may beg to differ. :.) I have had to let go alot over the last few years. I don't think we are ever ready to let them go totally but I have resigned myself to it. Good luck to your soon too. We are having a going away party for him Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully the weather will cooperate...
I've got you added, proudmoma! Just a reminder, even though they are given a ship date, they will most likely leave home the day before that so keep it in mind when armoring your heart! My son's 'day' is June 8, but he will leave with the recruiter on the 7th. Time seems to be flying! We'll have most of May with him after he finishes with finals and moves back home. God protect all our DEP, SR and Sailor sons, daughters, and loved ones!
Added you Justin&Ryan's Mom. We look forward to a seasoned mom's words of wisdom. :)
KatieGail - I would check with the N4M sites at the A-school location your son is going to. My DEP will go to FL and from what I read, there is no telling when he'll actually move out of holding and into A-school therefore it will be a sit and wait situation for the holidays. Maybe your son's A-school is more reliable. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. At least they won't be in BC so we can talk! :)
