Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Here is a calendar to keep track of when our loved ones leave for BC June 2011. Stole the idea from the Leaving in March group! I tried to go back through the site to get dates from those posted. Help me keep it updated! :)

MidwestMom, I will be thinking of you this week. It will be so hard to see your son leave but I know how proud you will be. Can't wait to hear all about it.
Nan
Thanks Sam's Mom. His ship date is the 17th, but we do turn him over on the 16th to the recruiter. We're having an Anchors Away party on Sunday and I took the rest of this week off to spend some time with him. We've cut mulberry trees out of the evergreens and planted canas...just doing some family bonding over spring chores. :)
(I haven't figured out how to move things around which explains why I'm above your comment...) I should have hit reply under you!
Hey Ya'll! My southern ways are showing huh? :.) I noticed the calendar is getting full...how is everyone doing?
Hello ElleBee, I'm glad you are doing some things together. We are actually leaving for the beach tomorrow. My son hasn't been able to go in couple of years so this is like a last trip together before everything changes. I'm so looking forward to it. His fiance is coming toward the end of the week so we can all be together. I'm suppose to be packing but decided to take a break. :.) Hey let us know if DH finds out some useful info. That is good he will have a friend down there...and he will be able to show him the ropes so to speak.
My son (youngest) will also head to Pensacola after BC and is super excited about starting the winter in a warm climate! :)
My daughter (26) has two young children and can NOT imagine her husband leaving for BC for 8 weeks! I think she believes BC will be a breeze for the guys compared to what you'll go through as a single parent. You should start a fan club, ElleBee, and my daughter will be the first one to sign up! I know it will be really hard for him to be away, but I really admire you and all young parents going it alone while their spouses serve. God bless you all!
