I'll know more about my SR after we get another letter on Wednesday.  I have always been bad at taking pictures, but now I try to take pictures at least once or twice every week and download them onto my computer and incorporate them in my letters.  Your daughter can make all kinds of goofy faces for her daddy.  Including pictures into all of your letters will help fill up the white space too and he'll stay in touch with their weekly activities.  He's really going to be missing you and the kids, so make sure you hand the camera off to people so you can be in the pictures too!
We had our going away party last night for our second SR this year.  He is our oldest and more than ready to leave, so this has been a lil bit easier, but as my husband and I previewed the video before our guests arrived, we both cried a little bit.  We also made a private toast to 2 kids out and on their own, doing well and to the fact that our 3 kids talk almost daily and skype, so we feel we did something right!  My SR got a new GF after a year long engagement and bad breakup and we are not real happy about it.  We wanted him to start his life without attachment and concentrate on himself.  He is Advanced Electronics with 21 months of A School in Pensicola FL and she is following him there.  None of us understands what he sees in her, but I am trying to not get involved, he is 22 and an adult.  These are his decisions, good or bad, to make on his own. :(..........  Off he goes!

Okay, ladies...our turn has arrived! I already posted on the main page so I won't repeat myself! I'm about to go wake my son up so we can get this day going! I love him soooo much and I'm super proud of him. My heart is heavy and my mind is full but I know God is with us both!

I'll be back on here probably Wednesday. Thank you all again for being the best support system EVER!

God Bless you all no matter what stage you are going through right now!

- J

Good luck to all who are sending their loved ones off this week!  You are in so many different people's prayers (including mine)!  Tell them you are proud of them and know that we are all proud of the support you are giving them.
got my letter today ship09/div250 looking for someone with same

bobbijk1971 - the PIR 08/05/2011 is being formed.  please join!

PIR 08/05/2011

It is an open invitation to anyone who has a loved one graduating August 5th.  :-)

Yeah Boobijk!!!  I've added your info to the calendar, but make sure you joing the PIR group.  From that site, up in the discussions either you or someone else with the same ship/div number can create a group just for your ship/div.  It is really neat being able to share with other family members that your SR is living and training with.  Sooo exciting and one step closer to being able to hug him at PIR!!!  I'm down to 17 days.  It has gone by pretty fast.  Blessings on your week everyone!  I hope lots of you get letters this week!
thx so much wow the relief that hits you with the letter in hand but i have yet to recieve the box yet....i just joined the pir 8/05 group got to figure out how to find discission group r ship and div a bit slow when it comes to this still lol and so happy for you on your 17 days keep us posted pls
FYI - The first 'real' letter after the form letter usually is written on their second or third Sunday at BC.  They typically arrive on Thursday unless you live closer to GL.  They have to earn writing privileges...and can lose them, except for Sundays after that.
thx that was my next question lol i just asked the rtc on facebook if they are allowed to call home on holidays (july 4th) he said no unless they earn them ....but im still waiting by the phone lol
Phone calls really vary by the divisions.  Some make up to 5 during BC and others just the guaranteed 3.  I think my SR's div is going to only get the 3, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  His brother div got to make an extra call last week so maybe his div will get their act together and earn a call this week.  We are roughly two weeks out from their 'I'm a Sailor' call.  I'd love to talk to him again!
i know you would ...thx im just really ready to see his face and congrats 2 weeks is awesome :)
