He is happy with it, you should pop on to the main discussion and say hello to everyone. There is a young wife whose husband is leaving this month, she is also in Tx right now.

If the recruits first day is March 15th, does thin mean  the PIR date is May 13th or May 20th? Or am I completely off the mark?

It can vary - BC is anywhere from 7 to 9 wks depending on when they form thier division /ship.  some have to wait until there is enough to form up - others go in and start right away!  Then, if they get sick or hurt or something then it may change.  Best thing to do is wait for your "official" letter telling you!  I have also read that if you are booking a flight for PIR make sure you can change it just in case!  You might want to post this question to the rest of the group on the main March page?!?!  Hope I didn't confuse you!!

I know I have to wait until that first week at BC is over, when I get the offical letter.  I was just trying to anticipate what the most likely weekend would be.  I work every other weekend as a nurse, and May (and June too) are difficult months because there are so many family type activities going on, which makes it difficult to find someone to swich with.  "Calling-out sick" on a weekend is a major "NO NO".    I'm just hoping and praying that she graduates the weekend I'm off so that I have the whole weekend available to her. I work the evening shift (3pm to 11:30pm or 1500 to 2330).  Worst case senario is I flyout the night before (Thursday) and return to the Airport Friday afternoon. I hate missing any valuable time her, and I don't thinks the RC will know what their situation is (Grad & Go) until the very end.  It's just the uncertaity of it all, which I suppose is something my husband and I need to start getting use to.  Thanks for "listening", I'm just letting off some steam.

Best of luck to all who have loved ones leaving on the 2nd.  You will be the first; please let the rest of us know what to expect.  You will all definitely be in my thoughts and prayers.  The time is passing way, way too fast!

Thanks for your nice words. I just found out this morning that my son will leave to MEPS tomorrow at 11:00am. I wasn't expecting it to be so soon! He wasn't supposed to go until the 2nd! It has finally hit me that he is leaving. I am excited for him but life will be so different now. I will post updates when I hear from him.

Jennifer:  I really do feel your pain.  When I turned the calendar over this morning and saw the 28th it really hit hard; I will close out the month of March without my son.  He also goes to MEPS (in New Orleans) but has to be there the day before just like your son.  I realize that moms have been doing this for many, many years but it is so different when it is your child.  Before I found N4M I thought that I was the only person who was feeling this so deeply.  While I hate for all you other moms to hurt, it is nice to know that someone else understands your pain.  You want your kids to be happy but it sure would help if it didn't hurt you so much in the process!  I think the thing that bothers me the most is that the son I've known for 19 years like the back of my hand will be almost a stranger the next time I see him.  The ties that have bound us together for so long won't be as strong.  He will be self sufficient and a grown man.  I'm so going to miss my boy!!!!  But...no need to get all worked up about it now.  I'm trying my best to enjoy him while he's here instead of thinking about him leaving.   I realize that when you read this your son may already be gone; I will most definitely keep you and him in my thoughts and prayers today.  After today you can start counting down the time until you see him again.  Best of luck with everything!

I'm starting to feel really guilty because all of your relatives are leaving before my son.  While I have him longer now, you'll be seeing him sooner during PIR than I will.  It is a difficult journey but one that they must make to become men and women.  I'm sorry about your morning of tears; the tears won't start for me probably until the 27th when he leaves to go to MEPs.  I promised I would not cry at MEPs (we aren't going to the airport to see him off) and I sincerely believe it will be the hardest thing I have ever done, without a doubt.  He's really and chomping at the bit and I do have a younger son who is a Junior in high school.  My younger son has always had to share me with his brother; now it will be his turn to get all of the attention!  I sincerely hope that you are having a better day today.  I will be praying for you.  God bless!

hi jennifer, you are in my thoughts and prayers, my son leaves march9th and i found out today he actually leaves the 8th at 1100 am. I am so choked up with tears and havent even called him yet to tell him as he is up skiing today. He kept insisting it was the 9th so I called the recruiting office and they said the 8th. My family are like its just a day difference but to me it is overwhelming. please keep us updated and I so feel your pain

These moments with my son are going by so fast! My son is leaving on the 2nd but has to actually leave tomorrow at 11:00 am to MEPS for processing. Good luck to all other March 2nd parents....hug them tight!
