I'm sorry, Angela. I hope she is not too disappointed and can move on somewhat easily.

Do you know about the group for families of recruits who will be coming home?

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/ship17moms

To valtameri: I had no idea about that group, so thank you!  It is an invaluable resource for information and phone numbers, and it makes me feel so much better to actually have contact numbers should I want to call there!

Thank you again!

Angela

Angela;

I am so sorry that things did not work out for your SR.  Keep the faith - Just remember;

We may not always understand what the good Lord has in his plan for us - just that it is HIS plan.

Good luck to you and your daughter!!  If you need a place to vent - you know where we are!!

1fireteamwife - so glad you got to talk to your SR!!  My SR said he doesn't even remember P-Days he said they kept them awake for so long they were on auto pilot!  Don't read too much into it - he is likely just real real tired!!

Also, keep in mind that they will "break them down to build them up"!  The first few wks are the worst for them - they all seem to "Not get along" then they start to come together!!  Just send him lots of mail and keep encouraging him!!  Don't send any 'depressing' news only upbeat - as he needs to stay focused and bad 'news' can cause him to lose focus!!  Again - Congrats on getting his call and numbers!!

I would second the "don't read too much into it" comment. In one of his early calls, my recruit sounded very "dry" (as you said) and somewhat stilted, because the RDC was standing right next to him. They are very tired that first week, and many don't feel well; it is often reflected in the voice, which of course, worries mom! It gets better, and believe it or not, the time will start to pass quickly.

Ummm...sorry I wrote so much...but thanks for "listening"!

It's great that you got the official last call. Now to start writing letters!!
We got the letter today. The funny thing is, I had just left a message for the recruiter and they told me that they wouldn't know for another week! Anyway, his is 11/180. Woohoo!!
