My son will leave in about 6 months for boot camp. I am glad he will be here for the holidays and his birthday. It is kind of nice having this much time so we can really enjoy our time together.

My son is leaving on March 12. It seems such a long time away and almost like it will not be here. I'm glad he is going to be here for the holidays. He will be in BC for his birthday so maybe we will celebrate that before he leaves.
My son is leaving on the 12th too. Maybe they will meet. Good idea about celebrating his birthday ahead of time. I may do that as well. I want the best for him but I'm really nervous. I know he will succeed and he will make everyone proud, but he's still my first born and I will miss him terribly.
We'll probably be hatting as it gets closer. For my son it's 65 days away and it i definitely getting more real. When he signed up it was July 29 and it seemed so far away. I am starting to feel apprehensive but trying not to let him know I am getting nervous. We are having a party for him too, a few weeks ahead of time.
Beth W I love this site. It shows us that we are not alone. As a mom, I know I have to be strong but it is just so scary, but that is part of life, I guess. I have been thinking about letter writing too. I want to make sure my son feels like everyone is thinking of him, which they will be, but until we reach March we shouldn't go crazy. Easier said than done.
How old is your son? Mine is 21. YOu are absolutely right and I think this is much more meaningful and more courageous than college. Sometimes I hear the moms talk about their kids in college and they make them sound like heroes for doing something that is just normal. Our sons are doing something awesome and giving their lives to better our country and that is awesome.
My son was working out and lately has not been. I told him he better start getting ready. I have a 19 year old son who graduated from high school in June and a daughter who is 12 so my kid activities are varied. The 12-year old is the one who will do me in.
My son is also leaving March 17, 2015. He signed up on October 7th and March seemed so far away but now its almost
here! I am nervous for him but he is excited to start his journey. My son is 18 how old is yours?
