My son is leaving so soon... I am a nervous wreck. I have seen some of the videos and read some of the blogs and discussions and it has given me some comfort. My main concern is being out of the loop for the 8 weeks that he is away. He's extremely ecstatic, albeit a bit anxious. As his mother, I couldn’t be prouder, yet I am still worried and concerned for his well-being. Hopefully, through this mean I can communicate with other moms going through the same situation.

I know what you mean. I sometimes start crying for no reason and he hasn't even left yet. I can't help it. I am trying to make all his favorites dishes, go out as much as we can and spend time together until he leaves. Best of luck to you and your son as well.
Hi Judith, our son leaves next week too. He is excited and positive, and that's helping me cope- I hope that the time in BC flies by. How do we put aside our normal mom worries? I have that random crying thing happening too....
My boy has always been laid back, it's been interesting these past few weeks seeing him step up and handle things in preparation. It's Encouraging. I'm going to miss having him around. He lives with his dad, we love to tease him, becauseat any time a meal was offered, boy he would be right over! Occasionally he would come by and want to know if I needed him to "clean out the fridge" lol. I'm going to seriously miss that.
Hi Aimee, my son is excited and anxious. I am the one that is freaking out. The days seem to be flying by until his departure. I already miss him and he hasn't left. I know this is a good thing but I am going to miss my baby. He's such a good kid. Always helpful and responsible. I know he will do well. Best of luck to you and your son as well.
What an incredible gift to see him baptized as he prepares himself mentally, physically & spiritually, that is a true blessing for you both!!
How are you holding up? We left the kid at the hotel tonight. He was in good spirits and that helped me be calm. I got to meet another recruit who lives on our side of town, it gave me such relief to know someone that would be a connection to home for the kid!
It all went smoothly and I wanted to give you some encouragement- it was ok !
Tomorrow is the swearing in. I'm sure there will be tears, but I felt better today than I have been feeling- it will be a great adventure and they will do great!!
My son leaves on the 18th also, his recruiter is taking him to the hotel this afternoon. We are going to head to MEPS at 6:30 in the morning to watch him swear in before he leaves.
I can't imagine what the house will be like without him in it. Just seems so odd.
