Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Holding is a time to wait.  Holding at "A" School (and most other times as well) involves doing cleaning and standing watch. They can sometimes also do some classes such as a financial class and some let them do INDOC (indoctrination--learning about the new command) and quals (qualifications--a certain number of watches and inspections or tests needed to begin the Phases) for the Phases while in Holding.

My son left on march 27th also. That last call was awful!! We miss him terribly too!! Did you get his ship# and division # yet??? I got it from the recruiter today. Maybe they will have PIR on the same day! Keeping you in our prayers!!
Paula

I just received via Facebook Al's address from his recruiter Check out your son's facebook pages

What division is he in? Double-check the address the recruiter gave you against those at http://bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp and/or in Ship/Division--How it Works within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) (clickable links). Recruiters sometimes give a generic address for the RTC and if the street address is not correct, then mail can be delayed for up to 3 weeks. I suggest that you also join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) while you are there and check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members). We urge you not to send letters until you receive the form letter.  See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit for mre on that.

 SHIP 12 DIV 200
3515 SAILOR DRIVE
GREAT LAKES, IL 60088-3515

He wants NM4

That address is most likely correct, but do wait on the form letter even though that is hard to do because he is still in P-days and won't get any mail until Monday, 8 April, at the earliest. With that division number, PIR is most likely 05/24/2013, but you will not know for certain until you receive the form letter.

What is NM4?

Missile technician on a submarine

Missile Technician (MT) has 7 weeks after classing up at Groton before going to Kings Bay, GA

for 5 weeks.  The Rating Information Card can be found at

https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/mt.pdf. There are no separate groups for

MT on N4M.

YOU are so knowledgeable where are you from? And is there a better way to communicate?

How do  I do that?

My daughter also left on the 26! What I wouldn't give to have her address now!!

Write letters and number them and mail them once you get the form letter.  You should have it on or around the 04/05/2013. Check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the members) in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to give you something to do while you wait.  There are videos as well as lots of text and links.
