I'm so sorry for it being so tough today. He was probably nervous as it is a big change for both you and him. Know he is safe and will build a comraderie with his fellow sailors. My son has been in 2 years, please know that it gets better and easier. Boot camp will go quick, mark each week milestone, send letters encouraging him and send lots of them (they love mail even if it's a cartoon or article offering encouragement) and when he graduates from boot camp you will look back and feel it went quick. Wish you and your son all the best of luck.

Thank you Kim. He hasnt texted me but has let my brother know he is at the hotel. I want to text or call so bad but i dont want to upset him

jdtm94 My son left from MEPS @ Ft Lee,VA yesterday.  We got the call at 11:03 last night!!  I pray for comfort and peace for you and your son!  This is a huge step for our sons and for us!

Thank you momof2. Mine is on the plane know will land around 5:40. I miss him so much i did not expect it to be this hard. How are you?
Jdtm94 I am hanging in there. My recruit woke up the morning he left home sick to his stomach with nerves, and I was afraid it was gonna be horrible. But I took him to recruiter and he immediately settled and was good to go when we got there. We were fortunate to be able to attend his swearing in @ MEPS. Even though he was nervous he was ready and walking out of MEPS to load van to airport he had a huge smile on his face. That eased my nerves more than I can express. I miss him but I trust he is being taken care of and I know he wanted this. I won't lie that scripted phone call was tough but know your recruit is in good hands and he'll come out of this so proud of his accomplishments! I have another one going in Sept so I will have to experience this all again in a few months!

jdtm94 how are you doing today?  Did you get your phone call last night?  I am praying for you and your son.

Hi momof2sailors.  I got the call at 1:40 this morning.  He go into the airport at 7 and was there waiting until 11 for pickup so we were able to text he seems better and I am hanging in there.  Thank you for checking on me.  How are you?

jdtm94 - it definitely seems they do a lot of hurry up and wait!  I am doing ok. You are very welcome.  I just wanted to check on you!  Hang in there and keep praying for him the next few days will be the worst for him from what I have heard.  I can not wait to receive his letter so we can start sending letters. I want to know when PIR will be so we can get our plans made to be there!!
