so in a case of..."the government doesnt know when the government is closed" my son's date to leave for BC got moved up to 11/6/14 because...well the GL facility is effectively closed for like 2 weeks in December.  So he leaves 11/6, completes BC in 6 weeks.  BC Lite!   Anyone else's child have their date moved up?

Since when is GL closed in Dec? My son was there for both Thanksgiving and Christmas!

-Leslie

I know!  It's confusing getting info second/third hand.

Check your My Page.

Seriously!? Two weeks in Dec? My son leaves nov 25. That would be so not right to keep him from his family over the holidays if he is not in active training.

The military does not care about you or your family. You signed up to protect America, not to be coddled or even considered when it comes to little things like holidays! And believe me, every day is a training day- although they did get the day off for Christmas and a nice dinner on Thanksgiving.

VERY TRUE!  I never know when to believe the recruiters.

My son's date got moved BACK from 11/3/14 to 11/25/14!!  He was ready to go, and we had everything ready for him.....he had even quit his job!  I sure don't mind having him around:), but it is frustrating!

My son left on the 6th for BC and he was told at MEPS that they may only be there 6 weeks instead of 8 by one of the processing officers........He didn't ask questions so I don't know how true it is, but it would be nice if it were true...........On another note.......it seems harsh to say it's "coddling" for a mother or anyone else who is new to having a relative in the military to inquire about them being home for the holidays.............Just sayin!!!

yes, they told my son he was in BC for 6 weeks and "may" come home for xmas.

Oh wouldn't that be a gift in and of it's self!!!! I wouldn't want anything else.........Lol!!! My daughter is having a baby in Dec also ............Son done with BC plus a daughter giving me my first grandbaby!!! What a Christmas that would be!!

My son left on the 6th too and he was told his PIR may be possibly December 31st.  Can't wait to find out the definite day.

Just trying to introduce you to the new world- you don't matter, your son doesn't matter, all that matters is that the military will do what it wants to do...but I AM sorry if I was harsh- Ihonestly did not mean to insult you. You (and I) have given our children to the service of our country- and I am a bit bitter at how badly mine has been treated...I sincerely hope your experience is much more satisfactory. :)

I hope you accept my apology.
