While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Late November 2016 ship date
Hello all!!!! November 22nd ship date for my future sailor.... anyone else? Also...since this is two days before Thanksgiving, what do the recruits do for Thanksgiving??? Does anyone know if they continue P-days during T-giving day/weekend? Just want to have an idea of what happens during P-week during a major holiday week. Thanks in advance (also, since they will be there for Christmas - in the middle of boot camp, what is that week schedule like for them? Does being a recruit during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holiday weeks add to their boot camp time? Just realized there are 3 major national holidays (and then there would be the MLK holiday as well for that ship date.) Any help would be appreciated! Looking forward to meeting any family members with a Nov 22 ship date. Thanks in advance!

My son just got his call this morning! He was told he would be leaving on the 22nd and shipping out (to Great Lakes) on the 23rd of November. Our understanding is that it will business as usual the week of Thanksgiving and that recruits that have been there "long enough"may qualify for an "Adopt a Sailor" program for a few hours on Christmas day. Wondering how long "long enough" actually is ???
I'm excited my son will be beginning this new chapter in his life but am going to miss him extra during these holidays.

He left on yesterday and I am still in tears. I was so proud as I watched him walk off to become the great man that I know he is.

My son is leaving the same day. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. I was wondering about the holidays as well.

Down to the final countdown! So many mixed emotions as we prepare for my son to leave. I am so excited for my son and very proud of the choice he has made, but it's bittersweet knowing that he is leaving tomorrow morning.
My son's recruiter told him to expect to be going through processing on Thanksgiving. For Christmas. his recruiter said he would (more than likely) get to make a quick call home Christmas Eve or Christmas Day since it is a major holiday and there would be the option of attending a service for those that choose to participate.

My son shipped out Nov. 21. I'll be interested to hear what they did for Thanksgiving (long after the fact, though....). Sadly, I have no more information than you two. Happily, it sounds like the three of us have a child in the same class. All the best to you!

My daughter left on the same day. I was so nervous too until I left home and went for a ride so that I was not there to see she leave home. It was a bitter/sweet day for me, and my youngest girl. I MISS she soooooo much, but I know that she's making a very good choice. She will graduate in Jan and we are making plans to attend it. If the weather will allow us to fly there. Hoping and praying that we can make the trip. I hope to see you;ll there.

I’m right there with you both. My son will thankfully be with us for Thanksgiving so I’ll take it. Christmas will be tough, but they’ll be okay. It helps knowing so many others are walking in our shoes. Thanks Gals for your questions and support. God bless you and your sons and daughters.
