Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I'm right there with you. My son was originally scheduled to leave on the 6th but it was changed to the 9th so he is leaving for the hotel today and we are meeting him at MEPS tomorrow. Hoping and praying I can hold it together! We had a great weekend together and dinner last night. So proud of all of them!

Hospital Corpsmama reading your message brought tears to my eyes, I can remember when my son went to the hotel we picked him up and had family over and had a dinner favorites that he wanted before he left. You are not alone in this, you have come to the right site and we all will be here for you. Join Boot camp for loved ones and everyone there shares. We have a great group of women that can answer any questions you may have, and emotions that you may have we all as Mothers have had. Welcome to the site and Congrats to your New SR (Seaman Recruit).

We are taking my son to the hotel in a few hours and going to see him swear in tomorrow morning. I feel the same way. Cindy

I know Ladies how you must be feeling, Believe me when they get to the Hotel you will be able to have dinner one last night and then he will again go the Hotel he will not sleep, tomorrow when you see him at MEPS he will look tired, it will be the anxiety that will keep him up. Just know that night to keep your phones close and find out what phone he will be calling you, he will get to Great Lakes really late at night and will be able to give you the I'm ok and I'm here call if you don't recognize the Number still answer they may be using another's phone to make the call, if they take their phone just know it will be sent back in the box with his clothes. This will be the start to a very emotional you, Just know that a lot of us mothers have gone thru this and it is a roller coaster of a ride. But you ladies will do fine. Please join Boot Camp for loved ones you will get so much info and will have al Great group of Ladies that can answer many a questions. Good Luck to you Ladies and to your Loved ones who will become a SR. one minute and a Handsome/Gorgeous Son/Daughter the next.

I have an additional battle... dealing with the absentee father at MEPS. He only shows up for photo opportunities and I don’t want to share such a proud, emotional and vulnerable time with him. My son doesn’t want to deal with him either seeing how it’s affecting me. Im trying to hold it together for my son but just 90 minutes from leaving I’m a puddle of tears.

That’s encouraging ProudML.I just left the recruiting office and I’ll head the direction of the hotel once I can the puppy off at boarding. Does anyone have any best guess estimates about our SRs PIR date? I projected Jan 12 but that seems like such a long time.

I dropped my son off at the hotel last night and he flies to RTC today. I don't think it will hit me that he is actually gone for an extended amount of time till next week. I was fortunate enough to get access to this group about a month ago and read up on what he would need, but it's different once it actually happens. I am super proud of him, anxious and a little worried all at the same time. I know he is in good hands though and can't wait till I get a PIR date so I know when I will see him again.

Hi Suzs, I am glad to hear you are doing ok. I stayed up all night waiting for my call "I'm Here" please keep your phone near so you don't miss it you will get it tonight sometime it may be really late call, mine was at 1130pm az time. it will be scripted and no more than a few seconds. Please stay near the site and if you need anything do not hesitate to reach out, there are Many great women on this site that can direct you. Very Proud of your son for the Step he has taken and the Journey he will begin.

After spending a few hours with my son at the airport this afternoon I just got “the call”. I swear if not for this site that call would’ve broken my heart. Those of you who got a full 2 minutes are lucky. My call was 11 seconds- and he hung up on me when he was done with the script! So happy and excited for him but the next 2-3 weeks without hearing from him are going to to be tough.
