Hi All:

I am very new to all of this. My son leaves on Monday, the 19th from Fort Dix, NJ. We thought he had until next April, but that changed quickly. Just found out yesterday, and I am having a very hard time. I know this is the best thing for him, and I am very proud. But, the thought of him spending Thanksgiving and Christmas alone is tearing me apart. :-( Any other mom's out there in the NJ or Philly area who's kids are leaving at the same time?

Hopefully we will hear from them soon....the holiday has been difficult...one day at a time

I didn't cry when my son left.  I went through boot camp 30 years ago, and I remember how it broke my heart that my Mom cried.  I didn't want my son to be thinking of that.  Everytime, I talked to my Mom she cried.  I understand that everyone reacts differently though.

I received my son's box today.  He has only been there one week.  I didn't expect it this soon.  Did anyone else receive their son/daughter's box who left on November 19th?

My son also left Fort Dix on the 19th and I received his box today as well.  Hopefully the letter will follow soon!

Tysmom and Mel:

I really blow at getting on this site and reading through all the messages. I have friend requested both of you on here. Maybe it will be easier once that goes through to just email you two directly. Looks like our kids are on the same ship and division. :-)

I got Zac's offical form letter today, with the graduation date of Jan 18th. These next 8 weeks can't go by quick enough for me.

Hope to hear from you ladies soon.

Christy :-)
