For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Studying for RTC
My son leaves 11/14 and just received the book he was supposed to be studying this whole time from his recruiter. We have struggled with getting any information from his recruiter and I'm a bit stressed that he won't be prepared when he gets to RTC. Does he need to spend the next few days studying like crazy?

Hi proudsailormom! My son leaves 11/14 too! Our recruiter told my son to learn the sailors creed and chain of command and 11 orders (can't remember the exact name.) We were told it was good to know this upon arrival. But one of his recruiters (we've gone through quite a few) said he didn't even look at the book until he was on the plane on the way to bootcamp, and he eventually learned it and it was fine. So if he could focus on those things I mentioned, he'll have a good start. But someone more knowledgeable might have different advice. I'm nervous because my son doesn't have the run time down to 12:15 yet. He's at around 13:30. He's been trying, but he's just not a great runner. :(

ProudSailorMom here is the link as to what he will be tested on so that way he knows and there will be no surprises. Click on Recruiters and it will give detail. also each of those subjects has info just click on each. Hope this helps also here is the web site www.bootcamp.navy.mil.

You are Welcome, and Best wishes to your Son and Thank Him for signing up, once BC is over he will begin to enjoy his Other Journies. My Son Loved A school and now is Sationed on Coronado Island SD, and he loves it. he also went on his first deployment and the Places he went were Beautiful, you will see and get some amazing pics as Your Son will share.

It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

My son just got his START book last week and he has been DEP since Sept 10th. I think they will learn on the plane and together. Recruiter didn't seem to think we should worry about it too much. Let him relax, sleep in, play video games and get it all in while he could.
