Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Anyone know what the best guess for graduation would be if my recruit arrived 11/13 at GL?

Navy sister/mom they tried to deliver mine yesterday and I wasn’t here to sign. I left the signed paper out and they delivered today. I was upset I didn’t have it yesterday but was also hard to open it today.

Does anyone know if Monday was a “holiday” for them or if it would be a p day if they left last Wednesday?

FedEx attempted to deliver 'The Box' today, but no one was here to receive it.  Of course, I wanted to cry!!  I'll have them leave it tomorrow.  I tried to register at FedEx.com to pick it up, and they kept saying MY ADDRESS WAS INCORRECT!!  I was SOOOOO frustrated!!!

Rebecca05 we're home now, he's in the air. It doesn't seem real yet. I did ok at the swearing in. He was in good spirits, looking forward to going I think, after being in DEP for a year. I'm trying to remind myself how quickly 8 weeks will go and all the great things in store for him after BC. Hang in there!

Catsandkoi, saw my son being sworn in and he is at the airport now. Countdown starts. Can’t wait to hear his voice. I know he is okay, this is a journey he chose and I am so proud of him. Just missing him already. These posts will help keep me sane. God bless us all.

Conversations we are having now:

What clothes to bring to graduation.

Apple Watch yes or no.

Nintendo Switch, yes or no.
What he wants to do that weekend.
Send me a letter stating what you put in your box so I know i got everything.
Unsubscribe to monthly phone apps like itunes, Twitch, Pandora, etc.
If you make friends with a sailor recruit who will not have family at graduation, let me know so we can plan to have him join us for our weekend plans and Dad will take pictures of him if we can, etc.
Do you want us to withhold any bad news or tell you (pets, grandparents ill, etc)

Get his head shaved before you go to avoid the Dragon Lady that is known to gouge scalps.

He knows to play the game and get thru the challenge. The road after BC is all good.

We are celebrating Thanksgiving on Saturday.  Just the 3 of us.

Anything you November folks are doing/ did do that we didn't think of ??

Me too, Rebecca.  We just dropped him off, will see him at the final swearing in, so I haven't totally lost it yet. My mind keeps going back to happy little-kid memories and I'm ready to fall apart. But I just keep trying to reframe this and remember he wants this, it's the start of exciting things for him.

Taking my son to recruiter this afternoon and then leaves MEPS tomorrow for GL. Not sure how to get through the day without crying.
